Judge's Critiques

It was pleasure to judge at this prestigious show. The layout was fantastic and the ring size was excellent it certainly gave us larger breeds the opportunity to move the dogs at the correct gait over a distance. Thank you to the Committee for the invitation and hospitality.

Veteran Dog/Bitch
1st Jarvis & Troisi’s Nordicwinds All Attitude. This 8-year-old grey & white bitch moved extremely well for her age and she showed a lot of animation. I loved her expression and her beautiful dark eyes. Being critical I would have liked slightly smaller ears. She has a good front assembly with nice compact feet. She has a nicely held topline on the move and her tail was carried very well. Moved cleanly around the ring with a touch of attitude.
2nd Anderson’s Tokosha Beyond The Limits To Cherubini AI. A very nice 9-year-old grey & white male, he has a very strong head with good ear and eye placements. Strong neck into a good front, nice length of loin and good hindquarters. Moved very soundly and could have swapped places with 1 on a different day.

Puppy Dog
1st Copley-Holland’s Katabatics This Is The Way. What a nice 11-month-old agouti & white puppy this is. He has a beautiful head for one so young, with the most delightful expression which is helped by his lovely dark oblique eyes. He has very good body proportions and a correct slightly sloping top line. Having good front and rear angulations, he moved with an easy sound flowing motion. I look forward to watching his progress.

Junior Dog
1st Horsman-Phoenix’s Snow Legend Zenith Of Fame Nordicwinds (Imp Rus). A very nice sable and white boy who was just out of puppy. This young male impressed me with his sound fluent movement, he covered a large ring with the utmost of ease. Stacked up I found him to show a lovely outline and to be very balanced with a quality head, good length of neck and a nice front. He has good body proportions but I would have liked a better tail which he tended to pull tight, especially on the move. He has good front and rear angulations to assist his lovely movement.

Post-Graduate Dog
1st Jarvis’s Nordicwinds Jazz Singer. Just out of junior at 19-months-old this grey and white has a compact body meaning that he is looking just a touch too square. He has adequate bone and neat feet, good curve of the ribs, good top-line and he carries his tail well. His coat condition was lovely, presentation couldn’t be faulted. He has a well-developed head with everything in the right position giving a very nice expression. Movement was quite acceptable.

Limit Dog
1st Horsman-Phoenix’s Nordicwinds Grtest Showman. Another nice dog who is just out of junior. He has a beautiful head with well-set ears and dark eyes and he has a good bite. He carries an elegant neck into a well-constructed front with a good lay back of shoulder. Good top line and curvature of the ribs, nice length of loin and nice rear angulation. I really considered this young male for the Reserve CC but his movement on the day just let him down, he was sound but he was giving his handler a hard time.
2nd Palasinska’s Anson Del Biagio. Very nice 3-year-old who has a touch more substance than my winner. He has a very nice head but I would have liked a slightly darker eye. Good body proportions and good angulations. Movement was good in side profile but going away he moved a little close behind and he was a touch lethargic.

Open Dog
1st Jelf’s Lapema Malizioso. This 2-year-old grey & white stood out today, he looked harmonious viewed from any angle. Beautiful head with well positioned small ears, correctly positioned oblique eyes and good dentition. Strong neck into a well-constructed front assembly with good bone and nice feet. Correct height to length of body with a correct slightly sloping top line. Very nice hindquarters which were well muscled and gave the drive to a free-flowing movement which also had good reach in front. He has an excellent plumed tail. To finish the overall picture, he was presented in immaculate condition. I was pleased to award him the Dog CC and then Best of Breed.
2nd Keeling’s Kishdigra Smooth Operator. This is a really nice 3-year-old red & white who has a good front construction and hard muscular hindquarters. He has striking head with everything in the right place. A good ratio of height to body but I would have liked a better tail carriage. Movement was positive covering the ground with ease. I was pleased to award him the Reserve Dog CC.

Overall, the bitches shown to me on the day were of high quality and I had to nit-pick to choose my winners. There are some youngsters in particular who look to have a very bright future.

Puppy Bitch
1st Keeling’s D’alkontres Perugina at Kishdigra. This 10-month-old is a quality puppy, she has such a pretty head with a wonderful expression, especially when she is alert. Her small ears are well positioned as are her dark oblique eyes and she has good dentition. Good length and circumference of neck. She has a well-made front assembly with well boned legs and good sized feet. Good body ratios, she has a solid top-line both static and on the move. She has nice hindquarters with a well plumed tail. Movement was sound but a touch loose as you would expect at this age. I was pleased to award her Best Puppy in Breed.

Junior Bitch
1st Jelf’s Lapema Bella Dannata. This 16-month-old grey & white has very nice proportions. Pleasing head with everything in the right place but being critical I would have liked a darker eye. Good front and rear assemblies helped to provide sound fluent movement once she had settled.
2nd Perfitt’s Samjoe From Russia With Love. Although only 13-months-old, I would have liked her to have been bigger all over at this stage of her development. She is a very pretty lady with a nice head, she has a good side profile and her overall shape is good, but when viewed from the front she was a touch narrow. She moved well for her age and was presented well.

Post Graduate Bitch
1st Horsman-Phoenix’s Nordicwinds Miss Marvel. This 17-month-old has a lovely expression. This was helped by clear dark eyes and beautiful small ears. She looked balanced both in front and side profiles and moved very soundly due to her balanced front and rear angulations. With adequate bone and substance without losing her feminine appearance, she gave a nice overall shape. She has a nice top-line finished by an excellent tail. I was pleased to award her the Reserve Bitch CC against some more mature bitches.
2nd Perfitt’s Samjoe The Good Witch. This 2-year-old was in hard muscular condition, she is a pretty bitch but I would have liked slightly smaller ears and she also needs a bit more size and substance. What I did like was her fantastic tail. Balanced in angulation, her movement was true both fore and aft as she flowed around the ring.

Limit Bitch
1st Forsey’s Muzoku You’re My Obsession. This 2-year-old grey & white is so well put together. She has good front and rear constructions with good spring of rib and good length of loin in between. She moved around the large ring with the utmost of ease with reach in front and drive from the rear. She has a quality head with correct small ears and nice dark eyes, good dentition completing a strong but feminine look. Her coat condition was excellent as was her tail. I was pleased to award her the Bitch CC.
2nd Page’s The Magician Bloody Mary To Cedarcreek (Imp It). This 2-year-old was a touch square in side profile but viewed from the front she has good depth and width of fore-chest with good bone and neat feet. She has good hindquarters and an excellent tail. She was another sound free flowing bitch covering the ground with ease.

Open Bitch
1st Page’s Cedarcreek Frozen In Time. I was impressed by the condition of this 7-year-old light grey & white bitch. She moved so soundly with drive around a large ring. She has a very nice head with everything in the right position, a broad muzzle and dark eye whilst retaining a very nice feminine look. Good length of neck into a well-made front. Good height to length ratio, solid topline and nice hindquarters and finished by a very nice tail.
2nd Cameron’s Sutarka Sala Delle Asse. This 3-year-old did not have the flowing lines or balance of my winner. She is a substantial lady who has a massive rib-cage, she has good angulations both fore and aft and she moved very well. She has a very nice head with lovely dark eyes and well set small ears.
