Judge's Critiques

My thanks to the committee and particularly Irene & Liz for making this possible and for the hospitality before and during the show. I think the breed has improved in depth since I last judged them at Driffield 2009 both in size and substance although there are a few that could be stronger in bone. Presentation overall was good in coat and body toning but teeth also come into the equation and should be cleaned at the same time. Temperaments in general were good. There were a couple that were, for me too big and consequently looked unbalanced. I greatly enjoyed the day and thank all who entered and a special thanks to my very capable stewards.

Veteran D / B 2 ( 1abs )
1st Butler’s Kaytoo Winter Ascent. At 10 years young this bitch still has the strength to work and moves with such an easy stride pattern. Well made in head with mid brown eyes and well set ears. Strong neck to moderate shoulders and well boned straight front legs and compact feet. Holds her shape well on the move and is true in all directions. Muscular hindquarters allowed her drive off with ease. Clean and well groomed all through.

MPD 2 (0 abs)
1st Wilkinson & Jelfs’s Savanite Drus Miracle Para Lapema. 6 month old young dog with good qualities showing. Well proportioned head that’s breaking well for his age, dark almond eyes, full clean dentition with correct bite, ears set and used well when alerted. Strong forequarters but tends to stand a bit east/west but this should correct itself when his ribs are fully sprung. Firm in topline to well toned rear allowing a balanced stride pattern on the move. Tail set and carried well. Shown in good jacket.
2nd Brown’s Snowshoes Mountain Blaze. Although a month older than 1 he is not as advanced in his development especially in head that could be stronger in muzzle. Dark almond eyes and small well set ears. Muscular in neck and front assembly with good shoulders and front. Ribs ok for his age, firm in back to moderate rear. Not the extension on the move as 1 but could come with age as it’s there, just needs time. Good jacket.

PD 5 (1 abs )
1st Fitch’s Tuvuarat Dances With Wolves. Substantial 10 month old with some developing to do still. Correct head shape and ratios but needs to break to complete the picture, at the moment he is a tad narrow in muzzle. Scores well in front construction and balanced rear. Deep in chest ,good spring of rib and solid in topline. Maybe not the most enthusiastic mover in the class but sound and true in all directions. Should all fall in place nicely with time. BPD
2nd Wilkinson & Jelfs’s Savanite Drus Miracle Para Lapema

JD 6 ( 2 abs )
1st Helleur & Cameron’s Chayo Fame And Fortune. 17 months old and so balanced throughout from head to tail. Broad well developed head with mid brown eyes, well set ears and large clean teeth. Powerfully built in front, correct shoulders, straight well boned legs and large compact feet. Deep chest and well ribbed. Straight in back with gentle slope to firm quarters, moderately angled stifles and well let down in hocks. Covers the ground with an easy accurate stride pattern. Should have a good future.
2nd Molloy’s Koolrunnings Rock With U (Imp Aus). Just out of puppy. Has it all there to work with just needs a bit more time. Well balanced in head, strong well filled in muzzle and broad in skull. Full clean dentition, correct bite and mid eye shade. Powerful neck to moderate front angulation, needs to spring in rib to straighten front. Shorter coupled than 1 but just as balanced overall. Moved with good stride and pace.

YD 4 ( 1 abs )
1st Gell’s Icewolf A Touch Of Stardom for Cheshnina. 18 months and needs to “ break” all through. He has the correct head shape patterns but needs more finishing, dark in eye, well set ears, correct dentition. Strongly built front with straight well boned legs and tight feet. Moderate ribbing but needs to strengthen in back and hind quarters. Sound on the move. Needs time
2nd Chin & Al-Hasawi’s Shyllar Darque Envy with Royalsher

PGD 9 ( 2abs )
1st Coman’s Chayo Fortune Comes to Wintalakes. I have watched this boy from puppy and seen him perform well at times and other times he has given his owner such a hard time in the ring. Luckily today he had his sensible head on and showed his socks off and used the ring to his full advantage to show just how well made he is. Scores well in head, dark almond eyes, small ears set and used well to his benefit. Strong well arched neck to first class shoulders and front. Well sprung in rib, solid in back , firm sloping topline into muscled quarters that all put together gave him an excellent reach and driving action, covering the ground with ease and soundness. Topped with full clean jacket completing the picture. RCC
2nd Dolan & Dolan’s Tuvaurat Valentino. Strongly built boy. Balanced in head with dark almond eyes, small well set ears and correct dentition. Muscular neck, moderate shoulders, straight front and tight feet. Deep in chest, well sprung in rib and firm in back. Muscled rear quarters and strong in hock. Moved out well from all angles, sound and steady. Shown in full clean jacket.

LD 7 ( 2 abs )
1st Roper’s Tokosha Atka JW ShCM. Gave him BP last time I judged him and pleased to see how he has come on in 2 years since then. Powerfully built all through without being coarse. Broad in head and muzzle, mid brown almond eyes, uses his well set ears to complete the picture. Muscular neck to very good front assembly and deep chest. Firm in back and topline sloping well into strong well defined rear. Moved with some purpose and looked as though he could pull loads all day. Correct tail set and carriage. Considered him for RCC but on the day the PGD just had slightly better extension.
2nd Sheehan’s Hawkam Leading The Trail via Amaqqut. Not that dissimilar to 1 in outline. Very good head to handle, well set ears and eyes, broad in skull and muzzle. Well arched neck to first class front with correct bone and compact feet. Well let down in chest and sprung in ribs. Firm topline, straight in back to one of the best toned rears present today, a dog that would surely be capable of working all day with ease. Shown in good clean jacket and handled to show all his qualities.

OD 8 ( 2abs )
Excellent class full of quality dogs making my task a pleasurable headache.
1st Bebiano’s Malta Ch. Mlt. Ch. Equinox Woodvram Polarni Usvit JW. Not the biggest of males but so well balanced and made it would be hard for him to move incorrectly. So good in head with broad skull and strong muzzle. Correct almond eyes and small well set ears. Powerful, well arched neck into first class front and tight compact feet. Deep in chest, elbows tight to well sprung ribs. Straight back coupled to very well developed hindquarters, all put together to give a picture of strength and endurance that would be as fresh at the end of the day as the beginning. Covered with an excellent thick coat of correct texture. Pleased to award him CC. His 4th I was told later
2nd Molloy’s Ir. Ch. Snowshoes Shadow at Wintablizard ShCM. Larger frame than 1 but equally as balanced both static and in motion. Strong well made head, dark almond eyes and correct clean dentition. Muscular forehand construction, straight front on tight feet. Well ribbed, solidly built in back, firm topline that holds on the move. Well defined quarters and strength in hocks. Tail set and carried correctly. Easy flowing movement that again should be good for a days work. Excellent conditioning.

GCD 1
1st Bevan’s Snobruk Super Charged with Conyzone. For me this boy could do with more bone and less around his neck. Moderate head planes, dark in eye and correct ear set. Straight in front with tight compact feet. Firm in topline and well muscled in rear. Steady on the move but somewhat hampered in front extension.

MPB 2
1st Lunn & Nawrocka’s Monikoona Fabulous Me. I have to agree with her name she is stunning with everything fitting well and so balanced she must surely have a bright future. At her first show and already schooled and steady in the ring. Plenty of bone and knuckle to grow into. Scores in head being well proportioned. Dark almond eyes and small well set ears. Spot on in shoulders, straight in back to correct angulation on rear. Steady and true on the move and a classic static outline. Will watch her progress with interest. BPIB
2nd Brown’s Snowshoes Kaya. Larger framed than 1 and not as balanced overall. Her head has the right basic shape to it but needs to break and develop with time. Well arched in neck to moderate shoulder placement. Holds her topline on the move in profile but could not match 1 in hind action today.

PB 4 ( 2abs )
1st Lunn & Nawrocka’s Monikoona Fabulous Me
2nd Forsey & Louch’s Libertia Platinum Princess TAF. Again not the substance or balance of 1. Feminine in head, mid brown oval eyes, ears set and used well. Strong well arched neck to moderate front assembly but needs to spring in rib to straighten front a bit more. Holds her topline on the move and is sound in all directions just not as composed as 1.

JB 11 ( 1abs )
Good class of youngsters that need to fill and drop into themselves
1st Rodger & Wheeler’s Monikoona Eclipse at Northspirit. Well made in head with broad skull and muzzle. Good length of neck arched into moderate front assembly. Correctly boned front legs on compact feet. Chest deep, ribs sprung ok for her age, more to come I’m sure. Straight and firm in back to good quarters. Could have more toning to complete her but should come with time and exercise. Steady on the move being accurate from any angle. Needs time
2nd Mort’s Arcticbreeze Midnight Echo. Similar remarks as1 being close up but not quite as balanced overall. Another that has a good head to handle being strong but not coarse anywhere. She has all the makings of a good Malamute like 1 but just needs to fill out a bit more in front for me. Both shown in correct jacket and toning.

YB 7 ( 1 abs )
1st Wolfe’s Follow My Dreams Polarni Usvit via Dreamwolves. Solidly built compact bitch. Strong in head yet feminine with it. Correct dentition and ear set. Muscular neck into well laid shoulders and straight front. Stands on compact feet. Well tone in body and holds her topline at all times. Powerful hind action from well muscled thighs gave her the edge over 2 by being better balanced throughout and more together on the move.
2nd Bevan’s Snowolf Manhatten Glory with Conyzone. Not the balance or bone of 1 . Good width of skull but would have liked a bit more in muzzle, dark well set eyes and full clean dentition. Strong well arched neck to moderate shoulders and front. Chest deep and well filled. Toned in rear letting her move with an easy action .

PGB 8 ( 1 abs )
1st Wilkinson & Jelfs’s Neskyla Star Sopra Lapema. Broad in skull and muzzle, ears set and used well, eyes could be darker. Strongly built front assembly, straight well boned legs and compact feet. Deep in chest with good spring of rib, solid in back gently sloping to well toned rear. Won this class with her positive movement and length of stride. Shown in full coat of good texture
2nd Bevan’s Snowolf Manhatten Glory with Conyzone

LB 11 ( 4 abs )
1st Roper’s Tokosha Issumatar ShCM. At 2 years old she is probably nearing her full potential. So good in head with correct ratios and dark almond eyes. Muscular forehand construction with straight well boned legs and tight feet. Well ribbed and deep in chest, straight in back sloping to very well muscled rear giving her the frame to work with and letting her stride out with accuracy and style. Just needs to be controlled better and schooled to finish her off. Shown in full bloom.
2nd Clark’s Marahootay Sorcery at Shamanictrax. Larger framed than 1 but still as balanced all through. Scores in head and front assembly being strong but not coarse in any way. Deep in chest and well sprung in rib. Correct topline and strength in back flowing into powerful hind quarters with tail set and carried correctly. Uses the ring to let you see how well put together she is and all topped with a thick clean jacket.

OB 15 ( 3abs )
Strongest class of the day both in numbers and quality, a real pleasure to judge and sort out. All were groomed and presented in top conditioning.
1st Ellis’s Chayo Better Than Chocolate. From the top drawer, stunning in outline and condition. Broad in head with clean planes, mid brown eyes and correct ear set. Large, clean teeth with scissor bite. Elegant neck flowing well to text book front assembly, tight feet. Elbows well tucked to deep chest and good ribbing. Straight well muscled back and firm topline sloping to powerful quarters, well let down in hock. Uses the ring to show off her construction to very good effect coming and going. In profile you can see her drive and extension is just about as good as it gets with spot on foot fall. Shown in fabulous coat and muscle she would surely be able to sustain her movement all day. Handled with the minimum amount of fuss to get all she had to offer. CC and BOB over the dog that didn’t seem to cope so well with the heat on the day.
2nd Nawrocka’s Pol Ch, Pol Jr Ch Ilia Lucky Appalachian (Imp Pol). Very close up to 1 and another on top form and so hard to overlook. Strong well proportioned head yet retaining her femininity all through. Dark almond eyes, small well set ears and complete clean dentition. Powerful well arched neck into first class front, strong bone and large compact feet. Good depth of chest and spring of rib. Firm in topline and straight sloping back to muscular rear quarters giving her the ideal construction to be able to pull the heavy loads. Another that has the reach and drive that is spot on as well as being true coming and going. For me she is not quite as finished as 1 but one you cannot ignore. RCC

GCB
1st Bevan’s Snowolf Manhatten Glory
2nd Anderson’s Sledog Forest Trail for Cherubini. Good in head with dark eyes and small well set ears, could be a tad broader in muzzle. Strong well arched neck to moderate front angles, straight front but would prefer more bone. Well ribbed and firm in topline to strong hindquarters giving her the drive from rear in profile but a bit close going away.
