Judge's Critiques
Thank you to all for my lovely entry. My thanks also to the committee of Three Counties for inviting me to judge and to my very efficient ring stewards Mr & Mrs Parry.
Puppy Dog (2,1)
1. Murray’s Snowmischief Burning Love – 7 mths. Well grown youngster with plenty of bone. Really lovely head developing; correct stop, dark, obliquely set eyes. Correct bite. Good shoulder layback and return of upper arm ok. Balanced proportions. Good spring of rib and length of loin. Correct tail. Excellent coat. Sound coming and going. Very loose on the move at the moment but he’s just a baby, and still growing, so plenty of time to tighten. BP & short-listed in the group.
Junior Dog (8,3)
1. Forsey & Louch’s Muzoku Let’s Go Crazy – 14 mths. Really appealing boy with the most beautiful head and expression. Correct bite, dark eye, thick ear leather. I loved his outline and shape. Good shoulder layback and forechest. Strong loin. Broad thighs. Sound feet and pasterns. Sound on the up and back but just rolling a little, going around, with a tendency to overreach occasionally today – however he’s still growing. Beautiful waving plume. Carrying a great coat, well presented.
2. Edwards & Molloy”s Wintablizard’s Investment (A.I.) – 16 mths – Really nice male. masculine head but wouldn’t want it any stronger. Dark eye, ears slightly low set. Well boned with a good front assembly. Correct topline and tailset. Sound feet and pasterns. Would prefer a touch more length in loin, just over-reaching slightly, but easy mover. In fabulous, hard, body condition. Well presented.
Post Graduate Dog (12,3)
1. Page & Jarvis’ Cedarcreek Frozen Asset – 2 yrs. A really lovely young male, I liked him a lot! Beautiful outline when standing; so typical in profile. Attractive head with balanced proportions – correct stop and v. dark pigment. Dark eye, obliquely set. Thick ear leather. Scissors bite. Good front assembly, and fore chest, with a balanced rear and strong hocks. Lovely feet, well arched toes, and well-boned legs. A strong body with deep chest and good spring of rib. Slightly sloping topline and waving plume. Very sound on the move, all ways, and was rock steady in his topline going around. Shown in well muscled body condition and great coat. A serious contender in the challenge – the other two boys just had the advantage of maturity today. I am sure he will do great things, I certainly think he is lovely.
2. Jelfs’ Lapema Garota Rude JW – 22 mths. Another very nice boy with a lovely outline. Handsome head, broad skull, dark eye and good pigment. Ear set slightly low. Strong, moderately arched, neck into well laid shoulders. Powerful, deep-chested, body and firm loin. Correct feet and proportionate bone. Strong, well let down, hocks. Correct topline and tail. Presented in well-muscled condition, he moved very easily around the ring and was sound on the up and back.
Limit Dog (11,0) Very nice class
1. Mountstephens & Pullin’s Inupiat’s Qulit Henrik At Whitewalker (Imp Nor) – Almost 4 yrs. Heading this very nice class – an impressive looking dog with a lovely shape and so typical in profile. Heavily boned and with a nice balance to him that is evident on the move. Excellent, large & compact feet. Strong pasterns. Masculine head, with large muzzle and broad skull. Dark pigment and strong underjaw. Slightly light in eye and ears could be smaller. Strong neck. Powerful, well laid shoulders and broad, well muscled thighs. Firm topline and lovely, correct, tail carriage. Great coat and shown in super body condition. He has a very balanced, easy and rhythmic, side gait and he covered the ground well, moving true on the up and back. Another strong contender but he just seemed a little out of sorts when it came to the challenge today.
2. Thompson’s Libertia In The Red Again At Shomont – 6 yrs. A lovely balanced and athletic-looking boy. He is very striking in profile and didn’t disappoint on the move either. Such a handsome head with a beautiful expression. Good width to back skull, and proportionate muzzle, with correct eye and slight stop. Correct bite. Lovely front assembly with good shoulder lay and return of upper arm. Strong neck. Deep chest, well ribbed. A strong loin which showed on the move with his firm topline and excellent, powerful, sidegait. Harsh coat. Shown in great condition. A close decision.
Open Dog (6,3)
1. Wolfe’s Hawkeye Polarni Usvit (Imp) – 6 yrs. Super dog; he really has beautiful breed type and substance. I judged him previously, as a 2 yr old, and it was lovely to see him now fully mature. I love his head – the proportions and his expression. Correct ears with thick leather. Strong muzzle with good pigment and strong underjaw. Correct eye shape & set, slightly light eye. Broad back skull. Great front assembly with good layback of shoulder and strong, moderately arched neck. Well sprung rib and strong loin. Deep chest, befitting his maturity, and heavily boned legs. Large, compact feet with well arched toes and strong, slightly sloping pasterns. His broad thighs and strong hocks gave him a powerful drive and he excelled in side gait. He was very sound on the move, with a ground-covering gait, good reach, no interference underneath and presented a firm topline, all the way, with a lovely waving plume. Presented in hard condition with a correct coat. I thought he was lovely and I was very pleased to award him the DCC and BOB.
2. Copley-Holland’s Am Ch Adair ’n’ Hug Casual Class (Imp USA) – 7 yrs. Another quality male, in his prime, presenting such a beautiful picture standing in profile. Most typical head, of balanced proportions, with well furred, triangular ears, correctly set. Dark pigment, correct bite. Strong neck and lovely front angles. Powerful, broad, thighs and strong, well let-down, hocks in the rear. Strong body with good chest depth and spring of rib. Well boned legs with large, compact feet and strong pasterns. Moved true, coming and going and had an easy, rhythmic sidegait. I just preferred the topline and foot placement of my winner. RDCC
Puppy Bitch (2,0)
1. Brouard’s Sutarka Coco Chanel At Orsamals – 7 mths. Pretty youngster, with nice dark eye and correct ears, well set. Muzzle could be broader. Correct bite. Moderate arch to neck with a nice shoulder layback and matching upper arm. Very nice proportions overall, with a good spring of rib and a correctly set tail. Good feet, well arched toes and good bone for her age. She is just a baby and she was a little unsettled on the move at times but showed a nice side gait when she eventually settled.
2. Finan’s Marahootay’s Destiny’s Child – 7mths. Heavier built than 1 but carrying a little too much weight. Good head proportions and dark pigment. Soft ear at the moment and a little low set. Strong neck with good shoulder placement and return of upper arm. Good bone and feet, needs to come up a little in leg. Deep chest and correct topline. Correct coat texture. A little unsettled on the move today.
Junior Bitch (8,2)
1. Edwards & Molloy’s Wintablizard’s Gin Lover (A.I.) – 16 mths. I really liked this young lady. Loveliest of heads; beautiful proportions and such a cheeky expression in her dark eyes. Triangular, slightly rounded, ears – well set. Good muzzle depth and size with dark pigment and good underjaw. A really nice front assembly with a good chest width and depth. Good bone and feet with short, strong pasterns. Carrying a coarse guard coat. Correct topline and tail set. She was athletic, and light on her feet, with a free and easy side gait – she certainly looked like she was keeping her handler on his toes. I was very impressed with her superb body condition, she was a pleasure to go over.
2. Barstow’s Cinneli Polar Maple at Ayakulik – 16 mths. Such a pretty young lady with a lovely outline. Great head developing, of super proportions. Almond shaped, obliquely set, dark eye. Correct ears. Her build is very balanced with a well laid back shoulder and upper arm return. Chest developing nicely. In lovely physical condition with good muscle tone and a powerful rear. Correct tail set and lovely carriage. Super side gait; she really does cover the ground with ease. Out of coat, so looking a little lighter in bone than 1, but correct texture, and she is still very raw and just needs time to mature. I liked her a lot.
Post Graduate Bitch (11,0) – Strong class.
1. Elliott & Campbell’s Packice Neiden Winterling – 21 mths. A really quality young bitch, very well made. She gave the impression of strength to look at, and she felt firm and well-muscled to go over, demonstrating a very sound, powerful gait. Really lovely head proportions with good bite and dark pigment. Strong neck and powerful shoulders, well laid. Good bone with strong pasterns and correct feet. Firm loin and good spring of rib and depth to chest. Her broad thighs and strong hocks gave her power from the rear and she had plenty of reach in front. Good croup and tail set and a waving plume.
2. Mountstephens & Pullin’s You Are The One of Kiyara’s Wolf Pak (Imp) – 20 mths. Another one I really did like a lot. She is so nicely made and has a lovely shape to her, and a super outline. Moderate arch to neck. She is balanced front and rear with lovely angles and a really good forechest. Such a pretty head with a lovely dark eye and good bite. Thick ear leather. She has a nice spring of rib and strong loin. In profile she had a beautiful side gait – very sound. She has everything there and I think this girl will really come into her own with maturity. A very close decision with 1.
Limit Bitch (10,3)
1. Wolfe’s Just Got To Love Me Polarni Usvit (Imp) – 3½ yrs. Well she’s certainly got the right name, I did just love her! She is so well made with those lovely shoulders and front assembly giving her plenty of reach. Strong body with well sprung rib. Firm loin and broad, powerful thighs with strong hocks giving her excellent drive. Broad skull, with good depth to muzzle, but there is no mistaking she is female – such a pretty head. Dark eye and pigment. Ears correct. Sound feet and legs and a really lovely, hard, body condition that showed on the move. She was a pleasure to watch moving in profile, she really was. She pushed my winner all the way; in the end, it just came down to maturity. RBCC
2. Jarvis and Troisi’s Nordicwinds All Attitude – 3 yrs. Presenting a lovely shape this girl has many lovely qualities. I really liked her balance and her outline. Almond-shaped eye, obliquely set. Ears slightly large and low set. Lovely dark pigment. Good front assembly with moderate arch to neck into good shoulder. Correct topline. well boned legs and large feet, with well arched toes. Firm loin and broad thigh. Blowing coat but the texture was correct. Moved out very well.
Open Bitch (12,5) Another lovely class.
1. Kelsey’s Tugidak of Jaydonspire (Imp) – 5 yrs. For me, this girl just says ‘Alaskan Malamute’. I awarded her a RCC in 2015 and I thought she still had some maturing to do; well, she has done that. She has a beautifully proportioned head and intelligent expression. Dark eye, broad back skull and large muzzle. Wonderfully balanced with those lovely shoulders, return of upper arm and forechest, together with that strong rear, with broad thighs and strong hocks. Good bone and correct feet. Deep chest and well sprung ribs. She has so much quality and is so well made – she just did not put a foot wrong today. On the move she was just effortless and powerful – great balance, steady topline, no interference and clean on her up and back. Well handled, and presented in great condition, she was on top form today, she just demanded the CC. I hope she gets her third one, she is thoroughly deserving. BCC
2. Hartley’s Koromandel Firefight – 5 yrs. Another beautiful, typey, girl. Really lovely outline with a moderate arch to her neck and a good layback to her shoulder. Attractive head with good back skull and muzzle ratios. Slightly light eye. Dark pigment and thick ear leather. Deep chest and broad thigh. Good feet, strong pasterns. Shown in really lovely coat condition and well presented. She moved out well but there was just a very slight roll over her shoulders today, which cost her in the challenge – but it was close. I really liked her a lot.
