Thank you to everyone for bringing your beautiful dogs under me. As anyone close to me knows this was the anniversary of my Mums passing so it was nice to have a more positive feeling about this date. I am fortunate to have judged the breed for over two decades now and it’s pleasing to see some of the examples brought under me. This may be my last time judging the breed as I’ve been lucky enough to judge the club show (x2), and several CC shows and I said I just wanted to do the two big ones now, one of which was LKA show so thank you to the committee of the LKA for inviting me. 

So on to this appointment; bitches currently seem to have more depth of quality than the males, however, in the males I chose, I could not be happier with their quality. The breed still looks to be in good shape, please watch bites as in certain head types I can see a problem arising. I always judge to the standard and quite often ask myself if would I have this example in my kennel. On this day I can quite honestly say yes to more than just the winners.

1st Elizabeth Dziergas & Kirstie Ashworth, JAMES BOND Illa KUVIANARTOK (FCI) at NUNATAQ (NAF), Nice head for age with correct eye/ear shape and placement, gently sloping topline, good spring of rib, adequate bone for age. A little unsteady on the move which will improve with practice.

JD Two nice young males who are going through awkward stages of growth, which is to be expected in this breed as they should take time to mature
1st Ms Kate Muncaster WHITEWALKER WINTER FLIGHT, soft expression with a lovely dark eye, well-arched neck leading onto a sloping topline and correct tail set, nice length-to-width proportions, correct feet. Clean coming and going and will be nice to see him mature.
2nd Miss Kirsten & Miss Charlotte Druce KASKAE HELL OF A VIEW (ai). Typical fun-loving young male with a lovely nature, good pigmentation, nice width of muzzle and beautiful dark eyes. Toes out slightly at the moment which is normal for his age as when his chest drops this usually corrects itself. Correct topline, tail carriage and good front and rear angulations.

YD Nice class and both males are a nice representation of the breed.
1st Mrs Sharon & Brian Innes, ICYCOOL HUDSON BAY (A.I.). Lovely sable male, quite mature in head for age, nice front and well off for bone, correct gently sloping topline and tail carriage. Good overall proportions with good spring of rib and good front and rear angulation. Clean coming and going, covers the ground well.
2nd Mrs J Horsman-phoenix, SNOW LEGEND ZENITH OF FAME NORDICWINDS (Imp Rus). Another striking sable male, different in type to 1 however, just as pleasing, soft yet masculine expression, beautiful well-arched neck, excellent front and rear angulation, good fore-chest and spring of rib, moved with a purpose, placings could swap on another day.

PGD Difficult class to judge,
1ST Mr Keith Martin, WEN MAGICK HAPPENZ AT DREAMWOLVES, Nice head with beautiful proportions, good front angulation, however, would prefer more angulation in the rear to create more drive, correct harsh coat, nice tight feet and good bone.
2nd Mrs Sandra Brandenberg & Miss Sue Smith, CHAYO ITS KURT FOR TARONAKITS, grey male with a lovely soft expression, lovely small ears in proportion to the head, good for-chest strong in body, good bone and large compact feet. The coat is a little soft.

LD Nice class, placings could easily change
1ST Miss S Wolfe SUTARKA FIRE STORM, nice male with a masculine but soft expression, broad head with a dark oblique eye, small correct ears with a moderately arched neck. Correct tail set/carriage. Good depth of chest and correct overall body proportions. Clean coming and going with purposeful drive.
2nd Mr & Mrs Alan & Debbie Lunn NORDICWINDS JAZZ SINGER. Nice typey male with a beautiful head and expression, heavily boned, strong pasterns, correct harsh coat, good front and rear angulations, and lovely on the move. Well handled.
3rd Mrs Julie Whyman & Mr John Murray, TAILFLY HEART OF GOLD, slightly small male than 1 &2, however, this did not detract from his quality. Powerful proportions in head with small well-set ears, well-arched neck and sloping topline, very good overall proportions throughout. Mover with purpose and drive.

OD 1st Ms D Reid, AUSTMANS COWBOY CASANOVA At JAYDONSPIRE, it’s been a long time since a malamute I have judged made me feel so thrilled. This male is everything the standard desires and is a credit not only to his breeder and owner but also to the breed. Not what I would call a flashy dog, however, his head is powerful yet soft, leading to a beautiful length of neck and gently sloping topline, heavily boned with compact feet. Correct harsh coat. Strong deep chest with good front and rear angulation with a powerful rear to propel him on the move. When this boy moves he simply glides across the floor with such ease. 2nd Mrs Emma Edwards & Mr Simon Molloy Ch & Am WINTABLIZARD’S INVESTMENT (ai). Another beautiful male, although the floor did not suit him you could still see his quality. An excellent head which typifies the breed. Excellent overall proportions, very strong in head, bone and body. large compact feet. Correct tail carriage. Another lovely example of the breed.
3rd Page, Mrs Marina Page & Mr Patrick Page Ch SNOW LEGEND BELIEVE IN YOU CEDACREEK (Imp Rus). Another beautiful male. Strong in head yet soft expression, correct in front with good bone and tight compact feet, correct rear angulation which enables him to move with a purpose, well-handled and presented.

VD 1st: Mrs J E & Miss J Smith Ch SNOWSHOES KING’S LEGACY Sh.CM ShCEx. An outstanding male who certainly doesn’t look like a veteran. Strong expression. Strong and deep chest, correct front with moderately sloping shoulders and good bone. Powerfully muscled hindquarters with correct harsh coat and waiving plume tail set. Well-groomed and handled.
2nd: 3807 BUTLER, Mrs Myra Kaytoo Antarctic Kuma, lovely head with a soft expression and dark oblique eyes, good bone and overall structural proportions, correct harsh coat, clean coming and going. Lovely on the move. BV

1ST Miss K Mountstephens & Mr Ian Pullin WHITEWALKER WINTERS GOLD, slightly taller than 2, beautiful soft feminine expression, well-arched neck and gently sloping topline with an excellent tail carriage. Correct harsh coat with lovely movement all through.
2nd Miss K Mountstephens & Mr Ian Pullin WHITEWALKER WINTER SUN, really liked her head shape for her age, very well put together, good bone, compact feet, clean coming and going. A little bum high which is normal for her age and should grow into a lovely example of the breed.

YB 1ST Mrs Sharon & Brian Innes ICYCOOL OTTAWA (A.I.). Beautiful young female, excellent bite, lovely dark oblique eye, correct ear shape and set. Very good angulation front and rear. Correct waving plume. Harsh coat and moved effortlessly around the ring. Exemplifies the standard. Will be one to watch as she matures. RCC
2nd Miss A Vasarhelyi UYAK SUPER STORM SLOANE, beautiful feminine bitch with a head which exemplifies the standard. Nice correct front with good bone, and a broad chest. Good angulation. Nice on the move just needs a little more time.
3rd Mrs G E Pritchard SNOBRUKS BEST KEPT SECRET Dark oblique eye, correct shape and ear set, correct bite and strong but feminine head, good bone. The tail is too tight and she needs more practice to get the best out of her.

PGB 1st Mrs J & J Smith. SNOWSHOES INDIANA is another beautiful female from this kennel who always present and handle their dogs to the best of their ability, pretty feminine bitch, good width and depth of chest, the overall picture is very sound. Good front and rear angulation, clean coming and going steady on the go around.
2nd Mrs Julie & Miss Amy Whyman TAILFLY BLOODLINE Another nice female with a strong but feminine head, well-arched neck and correct tail carriage. Correct harsh coat, good spring of rib and depth of chest. Would like to see her move on a better floor. Quality bitch.
3rd Mr & Mrs R Raby & N Moon’s NORDICSTARS BURNING FLAME AT ICEMOON (IMP) Very strong bitch with huge bone and masculine head, tight compact feet, correct harsh coat. Gently sloping topline. A little too masculine for me.

LB 1st Miss R Brown’s CAPUN’S MASTERPIECE beautifully presented and handled bitch, dark oblique eye, correct bite, lovely pigmentation. Well-arched neck, correct sloping topline leading to beautiful tail set. Good depth and width of chest, good bone. Very nice on the move, lovely quality bitch.
2nd Mrs Marina & Mr Patrick Page’s THE MAGICIAN BLOODY MARY CEDARCREEK (IMP), another quality female, nice width and depth of muzzle, dark almond shaped eye, good width and depth of chest, correct front and rear angles leading to a waiving plume tail. Tight compact feet well-presented and handled, pushed 1 hard.
3rd Mrs Myra Butler’s , PAHA SAPA MALS BLAHNIK VIA KAYTOO (IMP) nice feminine female with beautiful dark eyes, feminine expression, and beautiful front. Good spring of rib and depth of chest adequate bone. Clean coming and going.

OB very strong class
1st, Mrs Emma Edwards & Mr Simon Malloy, BEL CH WINTABLIZARD GIN LOVER(AI) loved this girl, especially on the move. Feminine head with dark almond shaped eye, small well-set ears, good front correct angulation front and rear, good bone and correct harsh coat moved with effortless gait. She just let herself down in the challenge and lost that bit of spring in her step.

VB 1st Mr Jay & Sharr Wadrup’s JUST GOT TO LOVE ME POLARNI USVIT (IMP), very beautiful feminine bitch yet powerful on the move. Everything you want in a malamute head, strong yet soft in expression. Good depth and width of muzzle dark oblique eye, small well-set ears. Good bone nice width and depth of chest. Sound in overall structure and moved with purpose. CC & BOS.
2nd Miss K Mountstephens, & Mr Ian Pullin’s. CH YOU ARE THE ONE OF KIYARA’S WOLF PAK (IMP). Very nice female, a lovely length of neck leading to a gently sloping topline with a correct tail set & carriage. Good depth of chest and spring of rib. Nice bone compact feet, very pleasing on the move.
3rd Donna Jarvis & Mrs Sharon Troisi, NORDICWINDS ALL ATTITUDE. Nice female in a nice class. Feminine head with dark almond-shaped eyes, small well furred ears. Good bone, correct front and rear angulation. Thick harsh coat with a lovely tail carriage, kept in good condition and moved well on a difficult floor.
