This is one of my favourite breeds to judge, and I feel that the breed has been in the UK long enough now for judges to be able to find type and soundness throughout the classes. I make no excuses for awarding my BOB from Crufts 2010 BOB again today. I thought he looked quite magnificent, and how pleasing to find afterwards that many top awards and class placements went to his progeny. I feel that judges should be harder on tail sets and movement now as these are becoming quite a problem in the breed. Temperaments were superb. I was delighted to see my BOB top the Working Group under Frank Kane. Very well deserved.

1 Syson’s Icewolf Eyes On The Prize. 7 mths old quality baby making an excellent shape, correct in head, neat thick ears, good width of skull, dark eyes, firm in body with straight front, tight feet, strong rear and correct tail set, moved soundly all ways. BPIB.
2 Phillips & Skopina-Panyukova’s Alveig Ultra Critical Decision Point (Imp). 6 mths chocolate box baby with so much to like. Very appealing head and expression, correct in ears and eyes with good bite, loads of bone and substance with correct Malamute tail. Just needs to firm up behind.

2 Forster’s Illusions On Thin Ice At Kachemak (Imp). 11 mths old boy of excellent type, very pleasing head, excellent front and bone, strong in body, good depth of chest, well let down hocks, outline just spoilt by a too tight tail, but very sound on the move.

1 Cochran’s Blaiddeira Its All About You At Malamaison. 18 mths of excellent type, so correct in shape, nice slope on topline, strong in neck and great front and feet, excellent head with thick neat ears and dark eyes, good depth of body, short hocks, tail ok, moved out well with super side gait.
2 Smith’s Snowshoes Spirit Of The Wolf. Very sound boy with attractive headpiece just lacking a little width in skull, straight front, tight feet, correct sloping topline, strong rear, in excellent coat and good tail.

1 Wolfe’s Hawkeye Polani Usvit Within Dreamwolves (Imp). 2 yr old in super coat and condition, excellent overall shape, stands on good front and feet, correct in head with good width of skull and broad muzzle, correct eye shape, neat, well placed ears, firm in body, strong rear with well let down hocks, moves out well all ways.
2 Cawthera’s Chayo Pulling Power At Lireva. 19 mths, making a good overall shape, slightly spoilt by too tight a tail set, pleasing head and expression, strong neck, firm in body, excellent coat and presentation, good rear movement, just needs to tighten in front.

1 Thompson’s Shomont Rasin Cain. A real powerhouse of a Malamute with movement so true for the breed. Effortless in side gait, so pleasing in head, good width of skull, broad muzzle, neat thick ears and correct eye shape and colour, strong in front and neck, good depth of body, correct tail, strong rear with neat hocks, in excellent coat. Res DCC.
2 John’s Shomont Rasin Suspicions Among Cristakell JW ShCM. Litter brother to first with many of his virtues. Splitting hairs today, just losing out on strength of head and tail carriage, but nevertheless a real quality Malamute.

1 Robb’s Under Icewolf’s Star Inditarod (Imp) JW ShCM Jun. Not the biggest Malamute but definitely very typey and sound on the move and in excellent hard condition, very strong in body, straight front and powerful rear, pleasing head and expression, neat ears and good width of skull.
2 Roper’s Ch &Ir Ch Tokosha Atka JW ShCM. 4 yr old with plenty of bone and substance. Quality head with excellent width and depth of muzzle, strong and straight in front with correct topline and firm rear, just needs to be a little more positive on the move.

1 Seidlova’s World Int Ch Rastaman Shamanrock JW. Loved this boy when I judged him at Crufts in 2010, and in my opinion doesn’t change. Today he was on top form, just oozes breed type, so soud and effortless on the move. Has all the bone and substance a Malamute should have, correct in head, body and size, with a true Malamute tail. DCC, BOB and delighted to see him take Working Group 1.
2 Loades Snowolf Canuck Bullit ShCM. 7 yr old black male of good overall type. Pleasing head, neat ears, dark eyes, correct in front and feet, firm in body with strong rear, in excellent coat, just a touch long cast.

1 Burgess’ Cedarcreek Endurance At Mountainglen. Big, strong dog of good type, correct in front, firm in body, strong rear, in good coat, pleasing head and expression, moved ok.

1 Wendel’s Malamaison Hot Gossip. Attractive baby with pleasing head, although ears a touch low set, stands on straight front and tight feet, strong neck, firm in body, firm rear with good short hocks, moves ok for age.
2 Wilkinson &Jelfs’ Justami Meoquanee Per Lapema. Red/white baby with pleasing head and expression, although would prefer a smaller ear, correct in front and rear, firm in body, in good coat, moved out ok.

2 Dowey &Seidlova’s Head In The Clouds Shamanrock. Pretty puppy, well off for type, in good coat, straight front and feet, firm body, would prefer a looser tail, pleasing in head, moved ok.

1 Druce &Druce’s Koromandel On Strange Tides (ai). Pleasing head and expression on this girl, thick well set ears, dark eyes, straight front and tight feet, nice overall body shape, tail a little tight, moved out with purpose.
2 Hardwick &Hardwick’s Blizzardpeak Moongazer. 13 mths youngster who still needs to strengthen in head, ears a touch large and thin, eye colour good, correct bite, stands on good front and rear, in good coat, moved out ok.

1 Forsey &Louch’s Libertia Platinum Princess. Typey 2 yr old making a nice outline. Pleasing head with appealing expression, could help herself by using her ears more, strong neck, firm rear and short hocks, in good coat, moved out soundly.
2 Henworth’s Wolfraven Rumor’s Nebula. A touch longer cast than first, but in good coat with correct front and feet and strong rear, correct tail carriage, in excellent coat, pleasing and typey in head.

1 Mort’s Arcticbreeze Midnite Echo. A real glamour girl, in full coat and oozing quality. Super feminine head, neat thick ears, dark expressive eyes, correct bite. Stands on super front and feet with correct bone and substance. Firm in body with good depth of chest, strong rear and correct tail carriage. So sound on the move with excellent sidegate. Bitch CC.
2 Wolfe’s Follow My Dreams Polarni Usvit Via Dreamwolves (Imp). Another lovely bitch who was unlucky to meet 1 today. Very impressive in overall shape, bone and substance. Very appealing head with excellent expression. Just splitting hairs on front movement today.

1 Prout’s Czech Me Out Shamanrock At Kessaku (Imp). Not the biggest of bitches but so very sound and typey. Pleasing in head and expression. Straight front, tight feet and strong well muscled rear. Moves out so well, would just prefer a firmer topline.
2 Clark’s Marahootay Sorcery At Shamanictrax. Pleasing bitch of good overall type. Head correct although ears a touch thin. Stands on good front and rear, firm in body, moves out OK.

1 Mort’s Arcticbreeze Lady Imocara. 7 year old quality girl in great coat and condition. So very appealing in head and expression, neat thick ears, dark eyes and correct bite. Super front and feet, firm in body, excellent rear. Holds her topline on the move and produces great sidegait. Reserve Bitch CC.
2 Butler’s Kaytoo Where Legends R Born ShCM. 10 year old in great condition for her age. Still stands on good front and rear, pleasing head and expression. Just a little out of coat today. Moved well.

1 Taylor’s Hyteton Relu Silver Moon For Luponooshka. Slightly long cast bitch who moves out soundly. Typey enough in head, straight front, strong rear and in good coat.
2 Shah’s Destiny Child Shamanrock For Alaicha. Opposite to first, very short coupled girl with pleasing head, stands on good front and rear but rather erratic on the move.
