This was my first time awarding for a breed that won my heart over 10 years ago when Sean got Ace, and this beautiful, fullon character came into our lives.  As some of you will be aware, we lost him in May this year to a short but extremely aggressive cancer.  So this was bitter sweet, as most of you know when a Malamute is part of your life they leave a big whole, but I did really enjoy your Mals thank you for bringing them.  My thanks to my stewards who were so helpful and such a pleasure to work with and kept my ring running smoothly.

Three quality pups in this class, 3^rd was least mature and not yet as positive on the move.
1st: Wolfe’s Dreamwolves Kiss Me I’m Irish.  BP Pleasing from every angle, yes very much a baby and a long way to go but already there are glimpses of the strong, powerful movement he will be able to deliver once mature, as he settled into his stride today.  I liked his conformation and he has a lovely head and expression, correct but also very appealing.
2nd: PRESCOTT & RAYNOR,  Dreamwolves Time Of My Life  Not surprised to find he is litter brother to my winner as to a type.  Again good conformation and moving well once settled.

 JD (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: WHYMAN & MURRAY Mr J Tailfly Heart of Gold.  Not in his best jacket but coat comes and goes.  Pleasing head qualities.  Well constructed, powerful and in hard working condition, would prefer a little more in length of stride.
2nd: INNES’  Icycool Atomic Again plenty to like in terms of type but a little overweight and not in as good condition and so lacking drive behind today.

1st: SMITH & SMITH Snowshoes Who Dares Wins.  I found a great deal to like in this developmental youngster who has so much promise.  Not yet 2yrs he is already looking the part in stance but there is so much more to come in terms of his movement, which can still be erratic at times as this powerful lad tries to match his full on rear drive with his front extension.  As his chest matures he should master this and will have everything he needs in abundance.
2nd: BOGLE & HORSFIELD Whitewalker Kings Landing at Valknut.  Good head and expression, good depth of chest and well muscled.

LD 
1st: JELFS Lapema Malizioso.  A quality exhibit.  Liked him for his correct length of leg, good body shape and excellent spring of rib.  Good mover with plenty of drive and reach to give a ground covering easy stride.  Head correct and showed to advantage.
2nd: RABY  Yuayua At Icemoon (Imp Swe)  Loved the long smooth ground covering stride of this lad.  Head pleasing in most respects but a little large in ear.

OD 
1st: ELLIS Chayo Cause Celebre.  Stood away, perfect handle and presentation, but that’s not enough without the dog and this dog was everything I’ve been taught to appreciate.  He is moderation personified, everything is in proportion and everything is absolutely where I want it to be.  Excellent lay back of shoulder giving him all the reach he could ever need on the move, correct slightly sloping top line to allow that well angulated rear to produce easy and fluid drive.  All the heart and lung room he could want on well sprung ribs with a good depth of chest.  He really did look as if he could go all day with that long economical stride.  Tail set and carriage correct and giving that waving plume.  Loved his correct head and expression, again fitting the standard so well.  DCC & BOB
2nd: BLACKBURN’S VDH NL Ch Bel Int Ch Cristakell April Shadows JW S Again fitting the standard well throughout and a quality exhibit. Heavier built than the winner, but plenty of power on the move and light on his feet.  Pleasing head qualities and good construction.

Lovely to see some old friends in this class.
1st: WOLFE’s CH Hawkeye Polarni Usvit VW  RCC & BV  Its no secret that I have loved this boy since I first met him.  He is very special and during his prime was an absolutely stunning example of the breed.  That he can still compete for top honours at the age of 11 shows another of his great strengths – longevity.  His construction and breed type, again understated and in moderation, are of the very best.  He is still in good hard working condition and that back end can still power although the front has to work that little bit harder to match it these days, but still true and more than worthy.
2nd: MOUNTSTEPHENS & PULLIN Ch Inupiat’s Qulit Henrik At Whitewalker (Imp N.  Another top quality exhibit, rising 8 years he carries them easily and is moving strongly.  Lovely type.

1st: PRESCOTT & RAYNOR Lueldar Beautiful Holly AI, IMP IRE  BSpB Plenty to like in this bitch, good jacket, with a pleasing head and expression.  Liked her conformation and she’s a good mover when settled.
2nd: PERFITT’s Samjoe The Good Witch. Quality exhibit who was totally out of coat today.

1st: BOGLE, Miss HORSFIELD Cahppes Tailwind Takala at Valknut (NAF/TAF)  Correctly proportioned, with a good head and expression.  Well set tail and carry her plume well.  Moved out to win here.
2nd: HORSMAN-PHOENIX & HORSMAN Nordicwinds Miss Marvel.  Lots of promise in this pup once she gets a bit more maturity.  Construction under my hands was fine but she was a bit here and there today on the move.

1st: BROWN Cupun’s Masterpiece  Up to size for me but couldn’t be denied as she can and does produce a strong balanced stride with neat footfall and makes it look so easy.
2nd: WHYMAN & WHYMAN Tailfly Bloodline.  Another who placed here on her soundness and strength.  Head correct but eye a little bold.

LB 
1st: PERFITT & PERFITT Samjoe The Dream Lives On (ai)  Athletic smooth mover, good body shape and correct conformation could perhaps be a tad broader in skull.
2nd: HORSMAN-PHOENIX, & HORSMAN Snow Legend Be My Lucky Nordicwinds (Imp Rus) JW Quality exhibit with good back end her when she chooses to use it.  A little untidy in front at times.  But correctly made and liked her outline.

OB
1st: SMITH & SMITH Snowshoes The White Witch.  Wow, if you’ve read my DCC critique you will realise how stunned I was when his equal in a bitch walked into this class.  Again perfect presentation and a perfect handle giving this lovely feminine version of this stunning breed all she needed to shine.  With everything exactly where and how I wanted it, superb construction, excellent breed type, with full attention to detail the CC was hers and I had a job of work on my hands to decide between them for BOB.  And she did push very hard indeed!
2nd: JELFS Lapema Gia Visto, RCC Lots to commend this typical sound and strong example of the breed from this long established kennel.  Shown to advantage and making the most of her lovely outline and excellent rear construction.  Again quality through and through strength yet femininity.

1st: WADRUP Just got to love me Polarni usvit (Cze Imp) As with all from this kennel, soundly constructed, good breed type and shown in hard condition.  A credit to them.
2nd: HORSMAN-PHOENIX & PAGE Ch Shakira Northwest Arctic.  Another top quality girl with correct construction and strong movement.
