Judge's Critiques
As always I thoroughly enjoyed my day. There must have been someone righteous present because the sun shone all day!
POST GRADUATE DOG (1):
1st. Darlow’s ICECLIMB ASCENT. Seal of good size. Broad skull, good broad muzzle, could be a tad more oblique in eye set, but altogether most typical. Excellent neck well set into strong, correct, top line and finished with a lovely plume. Really good effortless movement, excellent rear drive with some tracking. Really good, quality coat to finish a pleasing youngster.
LIMIT DOG (4):
1st. Woodhead’s NORAISY TAKE MY BREATH AWAY JW. Smaller boy, but quite acceptable. Many excellent qualities, particularly head proportions and most typical expression. Super neck, top line and balance in profile. Well made in front and balanced rear , so movement in all directions and side gait is spot on. So many excellent breed essentials, including a wonderfully plumed and well set tail. With maturity I feel could be right up there in the awards.
2nd. Brook’s SNOBRUK SECRET MISSION (AI) JW. Excellent, strong top line, good deep chest giving plenty of lung room, and strong through the loin. I’d like a little more angulation in shoulder, however his movement was very acceptable. Beautiful eye and head proportions, perhaps a tad too much stop, but this does not spoil an otherwise excellent expression. On the day just felt he didn’t have quite the super balance of the winner.
3rd. Pitcher’s MARAHOOTAY LYNX UNDER TATKRESIWOK. A size smaller than 2nd. Well built in rib and loin, good rear assembly. Correct, strong top line. Tail is too tight.
OPEN DOG (6,3):
1st. Blackburn’s GER/INT CH/NL CH CRISTAKELL APRIL SHOWERS JW Sh CM. Such a difficult decision between this lad and 2nd. The winner is so very beautifully balanced illustrating “not too compact and never appearing short on the leg” to perfection. His skull is broad, appropriately rounded, with a broad muzzle. Ears and eyes are good, giving most typical expression. Strong through the neck and body with correct top line. Exceptionally good in front, balanced rear, giving that wonderful easy, ground covering side action. To top it all off, he is so very proud of his perfectly set tail and waving plume, and so he should be. CC
2nd. Ellis’ CH. CHAYO CAUSE CELEBRE. Close up and pushing hard was a most impressive boy. On the bigger side with superb bone and substance. Excellent breadth of skull and good ear set. I would prefer slightly broader in muzzle giving a somewhat softer expression. Lovely strong neck, slightly arched and well set into shoulder, giving a smooth over line continuing in strong slightly sloping top line. Depth of chest is excellent. Excels in front and rear movement, a little straighter in stifle than my winner with not quite the easy stride. His tail is too high set and lacks the characteristic waving plume. Doesn’t need to be any shorter. Magnificent dog, wonderfully presented. Today I gave more ‘weight’ to breed characteristics and I had to nit pick. Res. CC.
VETERAN BITCH (2):
1st. Raby’s CANDRAKANTA MOON CHILD AT ICEMOON. This girl has a super profile. Nicely balanced head with good expression, although ears on the larger side. Good neck and excellent top line. Excellent body and very good bone. Tail a little tight.
2nd. Brook’s SNOBROOK RISING STAR OF KISNICOVA. Really good front and balanced rear quarters. Very good through the body with strong chest of good depth. I would like a little more bone and a less angular head.
MINOR PUPPY BITCH (2,1):
1st. Ellis’ CHAYO CAUSIN CHAOS. I thought a most promising baby. Very well made with well angulated front and lean shoulder. Balanced rear quarters giving a true and easy gait. Well proportioned head, neat ears and pleasing expression. Has plenty of bone. Clearly more growing to do but many virtues to build on. BEST PUPPY.
PUPPY BITCH (2,1):
1st. Aitchison’s KASKAE OASIS. At her first show and a little unsure. There is an awful lot to like, particularly her super balance in profile. She has a really lovely and most typical head, eye and expression. Not too settled on the move. She is going to be slow to mature and that is no bad thing.
JUNIOR BITCH (4):
1st. Mountstephens & Pullin’s WHITEWALKER WINTERFELL. At 15 months old this young lady has quite a bit of maturing still to do. Nevertheless, she is already a lovely example of her breed. The best of heads, broad skull, broad muzzle and well moulded. Neat ears and a well shaped eye, not too small, giving such a typical, feminine expression. In profile her balance is a delight. Neck, through shoulder, correct top line and well set plumed tail is absolutely spot on. She is very well put together and moves with precision and grace. Out of coat. With coat and maturity I predict a very bright future. Reserve CC.
2nd. Blackburn’s CHARDICEA PARTY GIRL. Another girl with a well balanced profile. Good bone and excellent ribbing. Very pleasing in head. She is so well put together. Lean through the shoulder, elbows tight, but not restricted. Rear quarters broad with sufficient angulation to balance her front. This is so evident on the move which would see her ‘go all day’.
3rd. Sutherland’s DREAMWOLVES HOCUS POCUS. Presents a very nice shape in profile. Although smaller than my winners she does not lack for bone. Nicely put together and moving well. A quick word to congratulate her owner/handler. This was her first show and she did a brilliant job. I hope you continue.
YEARLING BITCH (2):
1st. Jelfs’ LAPEMA TAVOLA OUIJA JW. A bitch on the bigger end of the measure. Certainly not lacking in bone or substance with particularly good depth and breadth of rib. Decent head, slight stop, though ears a tad low set. Excellent rear quarters, moved well but would like more front extension.
2nd. Dobson & Wolfe’s DREAMWOLVES MA LIL CUSHLA. Absolutely correct in profile, with excellent neck and top line. Broad in skull and excellent breadth and depth of muzzle. Stop too deep. Good rear quarters but is a wee bit wide in front.
LIMIT BITCH (4):
1st. Jelf’s LAPEMA NINO VUDU JW. Bigger lass with much to like, particularly through the body which is strong and well made. Good, strong neck, well let into shoulder and correct top line. Stood away with her movement, precise, easy stride, and almost laconic! Yes, she has very light eyes, but, as they say, she doesn’t need dark eyes to be able to go all day!
2nd. Brook’s SNOBRUK SECRET LIAISON. This girl has a very nice head with broad muzzle and excellent eye set and shape. Lovely friendly expression. She has good bone and is excellent through the body. I’m sure her owner knows that she needs to lose weight. This will improve her top line and strengthen her pasterns.
3rd. Dobson & Wolfe’s SUTARKA LA DOLLE VITA. Coming up 3 years old I felt this lass still has some maturing to do. She does have many good qualities being nicely balanced fore and aft. A well proportioned head with good size and set of ears. Ribbing is good, though she is rather longer through the loin. Once she is fully mature I think she will present a very nice picture indeed.
OPEN BITCH (9,2):
1st. Loades’ SNOWOLF BLACKPOWDER CHICK. Stunning! I’m sure this exhibitor would like an in depth citation of all her virtues, but I haven’t got the space to print the Breed Standard! She is so well put together, from the tip of her nose to her wonderful flag. Every line flowing into the next, and standing or moving she is, all girl, all working and all Malamute. CC BOB
2nd. Aitchison’s KASKAE TANTRUMS AND TIARAS. Smaller lady, with a really well balanced head and the prettiest of expressions. In profile presents a very pleasing image with good bone and substance through the body, excellent top line and perfectly set tail with plume. Side gait is very good as is rear, though she does come to a little elbowy. Very nice.
3rd. Innes’ ICYCOOL ORIANA. Completing a lovely trio of girls. She has a really super head, broad skull, broad muzzle, decently moulded. Although a strong head, retains her femininity. Good bone and substantial body with correct over line and strong top line. Has good balance in profile, though I wouldn’t want her any shorter.
GOOD CITIZEN BITCH (2,1):
1st. CANDRAKANTA MOON CHILD AT ICEMOON.
