CRITIQUES

Having been involved in the breed for over 30 years it was a huge honour to be given the opportunity to judge the breed at this great show, thank you to the Crufts committee for the appointment. Thank you to my two stewards on the day, Tanya and Bob who kept things ticking along nicely, always being pleasant and polite, great job. In addition, I would like to thank the exhibitors for their entries. The entry was one of high quality with some truly difficult decisions in some of the latter classes in both sexes. Teeth were in the main correct scissor bites, with only a few being level. Nice to see lots of clean teeth, this is usually a sign of good diet and/or good care for the dogs.
As I have already said, the quality of the exhibits was very high, most every dog was in good hard condition and temperaments were good to excellent. apart from a few nervous youngsters, to be expected under the circumstances. What I would say to some of the less experienced handlers is that your own nerves do transfer to your dogs, more so with youngsters. Remember as you get your dog ready for the experience of showing, that you too gain experience, open shows & club nights can make a big difference to you both. One area to be mindful of is tight tails, Remember the waving plume is a breed trait. Substance in bitches has been a bit of a bug bear for me for a number of years, the standard asks for heavy bone for both sexes. and the term “enough bone for a bitch”, is incorrect, as judges & breeders we are responsible.

1st Ch Hawkeye Polarni Usvit VW (imp Cze) – Miss S Wolfe. 11 years, a truly strong & powerful looking boy with the substance required for the breed. He moves with power & purpose, in good hard condition. A very well proportioned and balanced dog. Head with a mature but soft expression with nice dark eye, correct placement & size of ear and a strong deep muzzle Best Veteran in Breed.
2nd Weyekin’s Light My Fire Within Artictribe – Mrs Nd Lovegrove. 8 years, overall a very well balanced boy with correct proportions and substance, moving well with little effort when covering the ground. Correct harsh coat, correct top-line. Head is typical with dark almond eye small ear and strong muzzle.
3rd Cherubini Atene Cinquale – Mrs AE Anderson. 7 years, a nicely put together boy who carries himself well, correct top-line, harsh coat and substance as expected. Good proportions and balance with a pleasing head, dark eye, cor-rect ear and typical soft expression.

1st Kishdigra Mr President NAF – Miss G Keeling. 7 months, a very nice young dog well balanced and controlled on the move, covering the ground with ease. being more animated when passing the adjacent ring and seeing other dogs on the move, he grew an inch I’m sure, nothing wrong with that I like a bit of spirit. Has a correct top-line, nice tail set and correct coat. Super head for a youngster, lovely dark eye giving that soft expression we expect, nice ear size and placement

1st Icycool Hudson Bay – Mrs B & Mrs S Innes. 11 months, an impressive young dog with good proportions, correct top-line, angulation and substance to go with it. A strong, powerful head with nice dark eye giving a soft expression. correct ear placement and broad muzzle, correct coat. He moved with drive and flow.
2nd Chayo Coup D’etat – Mr T & Mrs S Sewell. 11 months, a real puppy this boy, he carried & presented himself well at all times. Movement is sound and effortless, not the substance of 1 but well put together with good angulation, correct tail, top-line and coat. Nice dark eye, ears set well apart and a typical soft ex-pression.
3rd Snow Legend Zenith of Fame NAF TAF (imp Rus) – Mr J & Mrs J Horsman & Horsman Phoenix. 9 months, an all-around nicely put together dog with a correct harsh coat, nice tail set, movement is sound and purposeful. Good almond shaped dark eye, ears set correctly. He could be one to watch for the future.

Litter brother to 2 and not much between them, they are of type. Another sound mover driv-ing with purpose, correct top-line and tail set, harsh coat and pleasing head with dark al-mond shaped eye and good ear placement.

1st Libertia Never Say Never Tokosha (IKC) – Mrs A Roper. A very well put together boy with plenty of substance to match his overall size, well balanced and moves with drive. A nice overall head with dark eye, small ears and a strong muzzle, still time for him to grow and improve further, shown in excellent condition.
2nd U Can Expect to be Free Shamanrock Wjw – Miss K Seidlova. A well-constructed grey & white dog, good angulation and overall balance. Movement is sound and purposeful covering the ground with ease. A typical head and expression set off by the correct eye and ear placement, coat is harsh but not so much of it today.
3rd Chayo Kabe Micco – Miss DG Gavan. A well-made boy with correct coat and substance, proportions are good giving nice smooth movement when he calms down, he was a little excited on the day. Pleasing head & expression with a correct dark eye, ear placement & muzzle.

1st Dreamwolves Just a Lil Crush – Ms LE & Miss S Fennell & Wolfe. A very nice seal & white, great substance and construction. He has a strong head, powerful muzzle, correctly shaped dark eye, good ear set. Correct coat, top-line & tail set, a tail which never stopped wagging. Moving powerfully with control and purpose, shown in good hard condition
2nd Ready for Good Times Shamanrock (Imp Cze) – Mr L Brhel. A well balanced, powerfully built dog who moved with drive & purpose, harsh coat, tail car-ried as a plume and a correct typical head with dark almond eye, small ear and alert expres-sion. Angulation, top-line and proportions are good.
3rd Amelhuk Empire of New Era at Arctictundra (Imp Rus) – Mrs A Wilson. A well put together dog with breed typical head, dark eye of correct size and shape. Ears wide set muzzle strong, good proportions making for easy pleasing sound movement.

1st Kishdigra Smooth Operator – Miss G Keeling. A super red & white boy shown in good hard condition, good substance, excellent harsh coat, correct tail set and waving plume when moving, driving from the first stride and main-taining it throughout displaying power & purpose, head is powerful and very typical of the breed. This dog will have his day, up against strong competition on the day, only just missing out in the challenge.
2nd Whitewalker King Landing at Valknut – Miss A & Mr R Bogle & Horsfield. A very sound well-proportioned and balanced dog, moving with purpose and drive, just enough substance to match his size, correct harsh coat good top-line and tail set. Pleasant head with dark, correctly shaped eye and good ear set, strong muzzle
3rd Orsamals Pepe Le Peew (gkc) – Mrs NA Brouard. A really pleasing seal & white with a cracking head, which will get even better with maturity. Nice slope to his top-line and tail set giving the typical plume. Shown in great condition and moves soundly with drive, flowing around the ring

1st It/Int Ch Black Star del Biagio – Mr G Biagiotti. What a great example of the breed this boy is, could be a demo dog when teaching the breed standard. An excellent seal & white, he just about has it all. He has excellent proportions with substance to match. correct top-line & tail set. Correct harsh coat He has the preferred dark almond eye set just right, small thick ears and a powerful muzzle. Effortless movement. almost floating around the ring, in excellent fit & hard condition, demonstrating the typical movement with drive of the breed. I could watch him all day. DCC, BOB & Group 2, he had a good day.
2nd Ice Gangsta’s Ball of Fyre for Chayo JW ShCM – Miss S & Mr M Burnside. A very well made and well-proportioned red & white, just edged 3 out on movement and boy can he move, having effortless drive and power. He has good substance. is well muscled with correct angulation, good topline and tail. Impressive strong powerful head. ears are small and well set. muzzle deep and an alert expression, all in all a very good all-round dog. RDCC.
3rd Ch Snowolf Black Ice Buddy – Mrs S Loades. Another excellent example of the breed that pushed hard for RDCC, he is well balanced with correct angulation and enough bone for his size, sloping top-line and correct tail set, he moves with purpose and drive and looks like he could all day. He has a pleasing mature head with dark eye, strong muzzle and soft expression.

2nd Tailfly Heart of Gold – Mrs J & Mr J Whyman & Murray. A sound, easy moving, well balanced dog with good overall proportions, sloping top-line, correct coat. Pleasing head with nice dark eye and correct ear placing
3rd Iceclimb Ascent – Miss A Darlow. Nicely proportioned dog moving well and with ease. Harsh coat, good top-line and tail, strong head with dark eye & strong muzzle.

Veteran Bitch – 14 Entries, 7 Absent
1st Ch Koromandel on Strange Tides (ai) – Miss K & Miss C Druce & Druce. An excellent 10-year-old, moving soundly with ease and drive. A well-proportioned and balanced dog with correct coat texture, nicely set tail and angulation. She has a pleasing head with nice eye & ear. She contested well for BV.
2nd Cz Ch Chaos I Am What I Am Shamanrock – Miss K Seidlova. Another excellent girl at 9 years, pushing hard for 1st she moved cleanly, powerfully and effortlessly. Shown in good hard condition and overall a well-proportioned & balanced bitch. Head is typical with nice dark eye, would have preferred a slightly stronger muzzle.
3rd Dreamwolves J’adore at Orsamals Pdh – Mrs NA Brouard. 8 year-old seal & white, who was full of energy. Moving soundly and with purpose. Nice all round balance, correct harshness to coat, pleasing head of good size and proportions. Kept fit, she will go on for a good few years to come.

1st Icycool Sweet as Sugar Monikoona (ai) NAF – Miss IZ & Mrs J Namrocka & Buckland. A powerful looking girl of 11 months, fully in control on the move and giving the impression of ability and willingness for the job ahead. Good substance but remaining feminine as a bitch should be. Coat correct, tail set nice and overall balance is there to see. Strong head with nice deep muzzle for her age and a dark almond shaped eye. Best Puppy in Breed.
2nd Samjoe from Russia with Love – Mrs S & Miss L Perfitt. A well balanced 10 months’ girl with a nice harshness to her coat, correct top-line. Moving with determination and soundness. Not having the bone/substance of 1 for me but all in all a nice girl. Typical head with nice eye & ear placement, giving a kind expression.
3rd Snowshoes Indiana – Mrs JE & Miss J Smith. Another 10 months old, very pleasing on the eye and moves cleanly and effortlessly, coat and top-line are good. Nice small ears placed correctly, dark correctly shaped and set eye. Not much between 2 and 3, but again I would like to see a little more substance.

1st Snow Place Like Nome for Dreamwolves – Mrs ND Lovegrove. At 14 months this girl is very well balanced with good proportions throughout, nice harsh coat, correct top-line and tail. Movement sound and purposeful, covering the ground with ease. A nicely proportioned head with nice dark eye, correct ears and strong muzzle, a really nice bitch. Will be interested to see her in the future
2nd Lapema Bella Dannata – Mrs K Jelfs. 13 months a well put together grey & white girl with a nice harsh coat, correct tail set, good all-round proportions. Movement is good with drive but lacked the ease of movement of 1. Nonetheless a very nice girl
3rd Katabatics Force of Won (ai) – KE Copley-Holland. 13 months’ girl is pleasing on the eye and clean on the move and overall well-balanced., coat is correct Head is very typical with a nice dark almond eye, ears set wide apart and a strong muzzle. Not quite the movement of those before her

1st Muzoku You’re My Obsession – Ms T & Mr E Forsey. A really nicely put together young bitch, she has substance, balance, sloping top-line, good tail set, harsh coat. A strong but feminine head with lovely dark almond eye, correct ear placement and powerful looking muzzle. Effortless easy mover with drive.
2nd Cahppes Tailwind Takaia at Valknut NAF TAF – Miss A & Mr R Bogie & Horsfield. A lovely seal & white bitch who pushed hard for 1st on the day. in excellent hard condition shown well on the move, she drives hard and looks comfortable and capable of the job. Nice typical head with the standard dark eye and nice small ear.
3rd Snow Place Like Nome for Dreamwolves – Mrs ND Lovegrove. As 1st in Junior Bitch class

Post Graduate Bitch – 8 Entires, 2 Absent
1st First Lady with Tolketna (imp) – Mrs J Warwick. A super girl who moves like a dream, striding out powerfully. Very well balanced, in hard condition, harsh correct coat, correct top-line complimented by a correct tail set. A strong, powerful but feminine head makes for an all-round really nice girl.
2nd Kaskae My Wonderwall – Miss L & Mr S Aitchison & Hunt. A very nice overall bitch, she’s balanced, proportionate, with good top-line & tail, correct coat and pleasing typical strong head, dark eye, nice muzzle size & correctly placed ear. Moving she is easy & effortless covering the ground well, pushed hard for 1st in this class
3rd Moon’s Nordicstars Burning Flame (Imp Swe) – Mr R & Mrs N Raby. A very strong powerful looking bitch, she won’t be every judges cup of tea but she has all that a mal needs to do the job. She moves cleanly with drive, is constructed soundly and although her head is powerful there is no doubt she is all female.

1st Kaskae Oasis – Miss L & Mr S Aitchison & Hunt. I really liked this girl, effortless and purposeful on the move, giving the impression she knows how good she looks, well-proportioned and very balanced with a correct top-line (which she can exaggerate when excited), correct tail set, good substance & bone, you can see a worker in her. Her head & expression are excellent. just what I like in a bitch. This girl pushed hard for RBCC and on another day may well have got it.
2nd First Lady with Tolketna (imp) – Mrs J Warwick. As first in Post Graduate bitch class
3rd Kishdigra Myra Mistletoe – Ms J & Mr D Russell & O’Callaghan. A nicely put together seal & white girl moving soundly and with purpose, very well balanced with good top-line and bone, a correct harsh coat, Head is very nice, strong but feminine with a lovely dark eye, correct ears and powerful muzzle. A very good 3rd in a tough class

Open Bitch – 16 Entries, 3 Absent
1st Jsy Ch Sutarka Coco Chanel at Orsamals – Mrs NA Brouard. In what was probably the best class of the day, this one is one you don’t forget, she is just so well put together and balanced, well boned with correct angulation. On the move she looks like she could keep it up all day, she pushes on with that effortless powerful gait you expect from this breed. She has a really strong head with a deep and powerful muzzle, dark eye set and shaped correctly, ears small and set apart. A substantial but feminine girl, just what I want to see. BCC
2nd Libertia Truly Scrumptious Jr Ch – Miss S & Mr M Burnside. She truly is scrumptious on the move, moving like a train, powerful, effortless and purpose-ful. Very well balanced with good overall proportions I’d like a little more bone but that’s splitting hairs between 1st & 2nd. angulation correct, top-line is sloping with a nice waving plume and harsh coat. Her head is clean, with lovely almond shaped dark eyes and small well set ears. RBCC
3rd Icycool Oriana – Mr B & Mrs S Innes. Another well balanced and substantial girl, this girl has correct bone for a malamute not just a bitch, she is sound and balanced on the move, but maybe lacking condition (fitness) when compared with 1 and 2. Having said that, she is a very well put together and pleasing bitch with a correct harsh coat, tail a waving plume and a strong but feminine head.

KC Good Citizen Scheme Bitch – 3 Entries, 0 Absent
1st Cedarcreek Forever Young at Mountainglen – Mr A & Mrs L Burgess. A pleasing bitch from the open class, moving well and controlled has a nice top-line and a correct harsh coat. Pleasing dark eye and small ear, not quite the muzzle I like but all in all a nice girl.
2nd Samjoe The Dream Lives On (ai) – Mrs S & Miss L Perfitt. This girl showed her socks off, well balanced and this shows in her ease of movement. a harsh coat and nice top-line. Pleasing head of good proportions,
3rd Samjoe from Russia with Love – Mrs S & Miss L Perfitt. As 2nd in Puppy Bitch Class
