Judge's Critiques

VD (2,1)
1. Nevinson’s Ch Chayo Golden Touch. 8 yr old who got the day off to a good start. Presented with super muscle-tone and pleased for overall type, size and outline. Powerful neck of good length to balance, straight topline with slight slope from withers to croup, nice spring of rib, deep brisket, strong loin and tail correct for both set and carriage. Masculine headpiece with good breadth between his correctly set ears, expressive eyes, large powerful muzzle and correct dentition. Moderate angles front and rear, standing nice and straight in front on excellent feet and with well developed forechest. Moving true on the down and back and with moderate length of stride on the go around.

PD (5,1)
1. Ellis-Payne’s Chayo Trust The Magic. 11 mth old who was certainly making his handler work hard such was his exuberance. Carrying good bone, he scored for overall type and outline and was good to go over given his correct construction. Muscular neck of good length, firm topline with characteristic slope, ribbed well back, deep chest and tail just right for set and carriage. Masculine headpiece with good breadth to skull, excellent eye and ear and scissor bite. Good angles front and rear and standing straight in front on acceptable feet. When settled he moved freely with good length of stride and this is what secured him Best Puppy.
2. Smith’s Cash The Check Shamanrock at Snowshoes (Imp Cze). This 10 mth old is another with so much to like and he was also pleasing upon closer examination. Moderately arched neck, correct topline, rib developing well for age and carried well back and firm, muscular loin. Attractive head with skull of good breadth between correctly set ears, eyes of good colour but not quite shape of those of winner, strong muzzle and correct dentition. Pleasing angulation and stands on large, compact feet. Moves so well on the go around with excellent carriage and so very well handled. Tail carriage not quite what I was looking for.

1. Smith’s Cash The Check Shamanrock at Snowshoes (Imp Cze). Best Junior and Junior Group 3.
2. Perfitt’s Samjoe Shadowhunter. 11 mth old who appealed for type and presented a well balanced outline with strong, muscular neck, correct topline with desired slope from withers to croup, good length to ribcage, deep brisket, firm loin and tail set on well and more than acceptable for carriage. Powerful head with no suggestion of coarseness, expressive eyes, ears of correct set and large muzzle of good width and depth. He stands well naturally on good feet and moves straight when coming and going but not quite the profile action of winner. Good quality coat.

PGD (5,1)
1. Innes’ Icycool Hudson Bay (AI). This was a rather diverse class with no two dogs alike. My winner was this 2 yr old. He scored for overall type, is well off for bone and substance and pleased for outline. Strong neck of correct length to give balance, Straight back with slight slope from withers to croup, excellent ribbing, well-muscled loin and tail just right for set and carriage. Masculine head giving impression of power, expressive eyes of good colour, ears set on wide apart and scissor bite. Good angles front and rear and stands well naturally in front with well developed forechest. Moving well all through with particularly impressive profile action. Good coat.
2. Horsman-Phoenix & Horsman’s Snow Legend Zenith of Fame Nordicwinds (Imp Rus) JW. This 2 yr old is of completely different type to the winner but he also has lots to like and was pleasing to go over. Powerful, moderately arched neck, firm topline, well developed ribbing which is carried well back, muscular loin and tail set on well but carried a little tighter than the ideal. Good breadth to skull, nice eye and ear, strong muzzle and correct dentition but overall preferred expression of 1. Soundly constructed, carrying good bone and stands nice and straight in front on super feet. Good texture to coat.

LD (7,1)
1. Wolfe’s Sutarka Fire Storm. This 6 yr old pleased for overall type, presented a well balanced outline and didn’t disappoint upon closer examination. Strong neck with moderate arch, characteristic topline of the breed, super ribbing, deep brisket, muscular loin and tail depicting a waving plume. Strong headpiece with masculine expression; skull of good breadth, good eye and ear and powerful muzzle. All male, he is well off for bone and soundly built all through and goes so well on the go around with free, easy stride. Good quality coat. Very well handled.
2. Horsman-Phoenix & Horsman’s Nordicwinds Grtest Showman JW. 2 yr old who couldn’t be more different to the winner but he was good to go over and presented a pleasing outline. Strong neck, firm topline with slight slope, well ribbed back, good depth to chest, muscular loin and tail correct for set and carriage. He has good bone but not quite that of winner, is moderately angulated front and rear, standing nice and straight in front on large compact feet and is well-muscled throughout. Quality head and expression with very good eye and ear and correct dentition. Moving well but winner just had the edge on the go around.

OD (7,1)
1. Page’s Ch Snow Legend Believe In You Cedarcreek (Imp Rus). Good class with some quality dogs present. My winner was this 5 yr old who I thought quite outstanding. Fully mature, he excels for type, is well off for bone, is so good to go over and presents a super outline. Powerful neck of good length to give balance, firm topline with slight slope as desired, first class ribbing, deep brisket, well-muscled loins and excellent tail for set and carriage. Powerful head with masculine expression; good breadth to skull, excellent eye and ear, strong muzzle and correct dentition. Soundly constructed both front and rear, standing straight in front on the best of feet and firm, muscular hindquarters with well let down hocks. When gaiting he moves freely on the down and back and displays a smooth ground covering stride when viewed in profile. Super coat and so very well handled. CC.
2. Jelfs’ Ch Lapema Malizioso. This 3 yr old is quite different to the winner but another who greatly appealed and he too, presented a well balanced outline. Strong, moderately arched neck, straight back with slight slope from withers to croup, ribbed well back, good depth of chest, powerful loins and characteristic waving plume. Attractive head and expression; powerful all through with dark, obliquely set eyes, ears of correct size and set well apart, strong muzzle and scissor bite. Stands straight in front, elbows close to the body, large compact feet and muscular hindquarters with correct turn of stifle and firm, strong hocks. Moving well all through with good carriage and a well deserved RCC today.

VB (3,1)
1. Smith’s Ch Snowshoes Aurora Borealis JW ShCM. Two quality girls competed in this class with this 10 yr old being my winner. I very recently placed her highly in the Veteran Group at WKC and she still greatly appealed and certainly belies her age. Feminine throughout, she was a delight to go over given her correct construction. Moderately arched neck, excellent ribbing, deep brisket, muscular loin and tail just right for set and carriage. She has the most attractive head and expression yet still gives the impression of great power. Skull of good breadth, good eye and ear, correct stop and large, powerful muzzle. Well made both front and rear and stands on straight forelegs with large, compact feet. Moving soundly with particularly impressive profile action and carriage. Best Veteran and later placed 2nd in the Veteran Group.
2. Jarvis & Troisi’s Nordicwinds All Attitude. 9 yr old with lots to like. She pleased for type and outline with neck of correct length to balance, firm topline with slight slope, lovely ribbing, muscular loin and tail of good set and carriage. Attractive head with nice broad skull, almond-shaped eyes which are obliquely set, ears set on wide apart, large muzzle of good depth and scissor bite. Pleasing angulation and stands well naturally on good feet but doesn’t quite have the forechest of winner. When gaiting, she is true both fore and aft and she goes well on the go around but again 1 just had the edge in this department. Excellent coat and shown in super condition.

PB (4,0)
1. Forsey’s Muzoku Charmed One. 10 mth old who was a comfortable winner in this class. She pleased for type and presented a well balanced outline with muscular, moderately arched neck, straight topline with slight slope from withers to croup, ribbed well back and tail correct for both set and carriage. Feminine headpiece with skull of good breadth, dark expressive eyes which are obliquely placed, correct ears and good dentition. She has correct angulation both front and rear and carries good bone throughout. One the move, she went so well on the go around and drives well from the rear. Good quality coat. Best Puppy Bitch.
2. Jelfs’ Chayo High Jinx with Lapema. 7 mth old and very much a baby, however she shows much promise for the future. She was pleasing to go over and appealed for outline with neck of good length to balance, firm topline, ribcage extending well back and is developing well for age and muscular loin. Feminine head and expression which is still to break but she has good eye and ear, correct stop and scissor bite. Of sound construction, stands straight in front on good feet and with pleasing bone for age. When relaxed, she moved well on the go around.

JB (2,0)
1. Perfitt’s Samjoe Seelie Queen. This 8 mth old was placed lower down in the Puppy class but she still has lots to like. She presented a nicely balanced outline with strong, moderately arched neck, pleasing rib, topline needs to firm up but she has plenty of time, well-muscled loin and correct tail for set and carriage. Attractive head and expression with nice breadth to skull, lovely eye and ear and correct dentition. She is moderately angulated front and rear and moved freely all through. Standing on good feet but needs to fill out in forechest. Good quality coat. Well handled.
2. Smith’s Snowshoes Fancy Ferrari. 9 mth old of completely different type to the winner. Right now her topline spoils her outline somewhat but she has a good neck, is well ribbed back and her tail is good for both set and carriage. Quality head with feminine expression; skull of good breadth, good eye and ear, correct stop and good dentition. Soundly built all through and stands true in front on the best of feet. Her correct construction gave rise to free, ground covering profile action and she went well on the down and back too.

PGB (1,0)
1. Perfitt’s Samjoe From Russia With Love JW. Standing alone here, this 2 yr old is worthy of some competition. She appealed in outline with moderately arched neck of correct length to provide balance, straight back with slight slope from withers to croup, nice spring of rib which is carried well back, powerful loins and correct tail. Feminine headpiece with broad skull, moderately rounding off between her correctly set ears, lovely dark eyes which are obliquely placed and powerful muzzle. Nice straight forelegs, well developed forechest and compact feet. Moving freely with moderate length of stride.

LB (3,1)
1. Innes’ Icycool Ottawa (AI). 2 yr old who won this class with some room to spare. She presented the outline I was looking for with powerful neck of good length to balance, correct topline of the breed, deep brisket, ribbed well back, well-muscled loin and desired waving plume. Quality head with feminine expression; good breadth to skull, almond-shaped eyes of correct set, powerful muzzle and scissor bite. Well made all through, standing nice and straight in front with well developed forechest, excellent feet and firm, muscular hindquarters with hocks well let down. Gaiting soundly on the down and back and eye-catching profile action.
2. Horsman-Phoenix & Horsman’s Nordicwinds Miss Marvel. This 2 yr old is also soundly constructed all through but she is a somewhat slighter build than the winner and higher on the leg. She pleased in outline with correct length of neck, slight slope to topline, good length of ribcage, firm loins and tail good for set and carriage. Feminine headpiece with pleasing eye and ear but not quite the expression of winner. Standing straight in front on compact feet but forechest still to fully develop. Moving true and very well handled.

OB (5,1)
1. Ellis-Payne’s Ch Chayo Vasilisa. Nice class which was a pleasure to judge. My winner was this 5 yr old who caught my eye initially and also pleased upon closer inspection. Feminine throughout yet with the power and substance which is so essential to the breed. Moderately arched neck of good length to balance, straight topline with characteristic slope from withers to croup, excellent ribbing, good depth to brisket, strong muscular loins and outline finished off with a waving plume. Quality headpiece with a beautiful expression; good breadth to skull, ears set on wide apart, dark almond-shaped eyes which are obliquely set, large muzzle of good depth and scissor bite. Soundly constructed all through; gaiting freely on the down and back and covers the ground with seemingly little effort when viewed in profile with proud carriage and making the most of herself at all times. Good quality coat and shown in first class condition. CC & BOB.
2. Page’s Ch The Magician Bloody Mary Cedarcreek (Imp Ita). This 3 yr old pushed the winner all the way and she too was so good to go over. Scoring for type, she presented such a beautifully balanced outline with strong, moderately arched neck, correct topline of the breed, well sprung ribs which extend well back, firm well-muscled loin and super tail for both set and carriage. She is another with such a good head, feminine yet retaining the impression of power and strength; the very best of eyes and ears, powerful muzzle of good width and depth and correct dentition. Well made all through and stands just right in front on large, compact feet, and goes well when viewed from any angle. Excellent coat. RCC.
