Judge's Critiques

A challenging entry with great diversity of type and, as with many breeds, movement presented additional problems.

MPD (2,0)
1. Hunt’s Orsamals Reveuse. Two very different types here. The winner was this 7 mth pup who was much more together than the 2nd and overall had lots to like. He presented a good outline with moderately arched neck, firm topline, good depth to chest, rib developing nicely for age and muscular loin. Attractive head with good breadth between the ears, almond-shaped eyes which are obliquely set, correct length of skull to balance and good dentition. Well made all through, standing nice and straight in front with firm pasterns, large compact feet and muscular hindquarters with nice turn of stifle. Moving freely with good drive from the rear. Tail is somewhat tighter than the ideal. Best Puppy Dog.
2. Dwyer & Wallace’s Articrainbow Heat Wave at Thundaspirit. This 6 mth old is much larger than the winner and rather un-coordinated on the move but he has a wonderful temperament and was thoroughly enjoying his day out. Another who has a pleasing headpiece with good breadth of skull, ears set on well, good eyes for colour, correct stop, good depth to muzzle and scissor bite. Moderately arched neck of good length, firm topline, ribbed well back but tail carried very loosely, although this could be due to puppy exhuberance. He could be firmer in front and I would like to see better pasterns. Good coat.

JD (5,0)
1. Ellis’ Chayo Cause Celebre. Varied class where this 14mth was a comfortable winner. I thought him an excellent type and he presented such a good outline with strong, moderately arched neck, firm topline with slight slope from withers to croup, good depth of chest, muscular loin and tail just right for set and carriage. Masculine head and expression with good breadth between his well set ears, obliquely set eyes of correct shape and colour, large muzzle of good depth and correct scissor bite. Very well constructed and carrying good bone throughout; straight forelegs, large compact feet and firm hindquarters with well developed thighs and hocks well let down. He also impressed on the move, covering the ground with excellent drive from the rear. Quality coat with excellent texture. RCC.
2. Smith’s Snowshoes Telmarine King. 17 mth old of completely different type to the winner and not carrying as much bone but he was pleasing to go over given his correct construction. Correct outline with neck of good length to balance, straight topline with desired slope, good depth of chest, ribs well sprung, firm loin and tail set on moderately high and of correct carriage. Another with a very nice head; broad skull, ears set on well, obliquely set eyes of good colour, slight stop, muzzle of good depth and correct mouth. Shoulders well laid, standing nice and straight in front on correct feet and muscular rear with nice turn of stifle. Moving so well on the go around, nice and firm going away and moving well enough when coming towards.
3. Winters’ Winterwild The Hurricane

PGD (2,0)
1. Finan’s Marahootay Crown Jewel (AI). 3 yr old carrying good bone and substance but somewhat disinterested in the proceedings! He presented a well balanced outline with moderately arched neck, correct topline with slight slope from withers to croup, nice spring of rib, muscular loin and tail set on well. Overall, pleasing head with broad skull between his well set ears, strong muzzle and correct dentition, although his eyes are a little rounder than the ideal. He stands nice and straight on large, compact feet and has good angles both ends. Moving out well in profile which is where he scored over 2nd and better going away, although not perfect.
2. Holt’s Freezefactor Tis The Season at Breconfrost. 2 yr old who also presented a pleasing outline with strong neck of good length to balance, straight topline with slight slope, good depth to chest, well sprung ribs, firm loin and tail good for both set and carriage. Skull of good breadth, eye of good colour but could be better set, ears set on wide apart, muzzle of good depth and correct scissor bite. Well boned throughout and carrying plenty of substance. Moving freely when coming towards but profile action could not match that or winner and he could be firmer going away. Quality coat with good texture and required dense undercoat. Super temperament.

1. John’s Cristakell April Solstice. This 3 yr old headed what I felt was a particularly diverse class. He was not making the most of himself on the stand but came into his own on the move. Masculine throughout and carrying good bone and substance. Quality head with good breadth between his correctly set ears, eyes of good colour, powerful muzzle of good depth and correct dentition. Strong neck of good length to balance, firm topline, good depth to brisket, excellent rib, muscular loin and tail set on well. Shoulders well laid, straight forelegs, large compact feet and firm rear with nice turn of stifle. Comes into his own on the move, covering the ground and using himself as he goes.
2. Singh’s Mountain Home Sledog Staxtacular (Imp USA). 2 yr old of completely different type and build to the winner, carrying less bone, but still will lots to commend him. He presented a pleasing outline, although slightly longer, with moderately arched neck of good length, correct topline with slight slope from withers to croup, good depth to chest, nice spring of rib, firm loin and tail of good set and carriage. Nicely proportioned head with broad skull, ears of good set when he decides to use them, pretty good eye, muzzle of good depth and correct dentition. Moving out well on the go around, nice and firm behind and moving well enough coming towards. Well handled.
3. Cameron’s Sutarka Fire Storm

OD (6,1)
1. Smith’s Snowshoes King’s Legacy ShCM. This 3 yr old greatly appealed and was so good to go over. He was presented in first class order with excellent muscling and shown to advantage. Well balanced with muscular neck of good length, straight topline with desired slope from withers to croup, chest of good depth, ribcage extending well back, muscular loin and tail set on moderately high and carried like a waving plume. Most attractive head and expression with no suggestion of coarseness; good breadth between his well set ears, almond-shaped eyes which are obliquely set, muzzle of good depth and correct scissor bite. Faultless construction with good angles both front and rear and standing foot perfect naturally. He is quite something on the move, covering the ground with strong rear drive and true both fore and aft. Good quality coat of excellent texture and with the desired dense undercoat. CC and BOB which I was informed gave him his title and later going Group 2 from a quality line-up.
2. Ellis’ Chayo Suspicious Minds. Approaching 18 mths this boy was another of quality but so very different to the winner. Masculine throughout and carrying good bone and substance, he presented a good outline with strong, moderately arched neck, firm topline with slight slope, good depth and breadth of chest, excellent ribbing, muscular loin and tail correct for both set and carriage. Quality head with broad skulls, ears set on wide apart, dark eye but not quite the set of 1, correct stop, powerful muzzle of good depth and correct dentition. Straight forelegs, large compact feet and well made rear with muscular thighs, good turn of stifle and well let down hocks. Moving freely fore and aft, good self carriage and nice profile action but winner just having the edge. Another quality coat, presented in excellent condition and the very best of temperaments.
3. Blackburn’s Ger/Int Ch Cristakell April Shadows JW ShCM

VD (2,0)
1. Wolfe’s Ch Hawkeye Polarni Usvit (Imp Cze). Two quality boys challenged here and once again two very different dogs. The winner was this 8 yr old who greatly impressed. Of good size, masculine throughout but with no suggestion of coarseness and carrying excellent bone and substance. Given his excellent construction, he was so good to go over and certainly didn’t disappoint on the move, covering the ground with smooth, yet powerful action. Most attractive head with exquisite expression; broad skull with well set ears, dark almond-shaped eyes of correct set, powerful muzzle and correct scissor bite. Strong, moderately arched neck, straight topline with slight slope, nice deep chest, excellent rib, muscular loin and tail of correct set and carried like a waving plume. Correct double coat with excellent texture. Well handled and close up to the CC and RCC winners today. Best Veteran.
2. Robb’s Ch/Int Ch/Bel Ch/Lux Ch/Ger Ch/NL Ch Under Icewolf’s Star Inditarod. 9 yr old who I have done well for in the past. He is out of a smaller mould than the winner but still with so much to like. He is good for type and presents a well balanced outline with moderately arched neck of correct length, firm topline sloping slightly from withers to croup, good and breadth of chest, ribcage extends well back and excellent spring of rib, muscular loin and tail correct for both set and carriage. Nice breadth between his well set ears, good eyes but not quite those of winner, correct stop, muzzle of good depth and correct dentition. Good angles both front and rear, standing nice and straight in front on large, compact feet and firm rear with good turn of stifle. Moving out well on the go around but winner just had the edge going away. Excellent temperament and another very handled.

1. Holt’s Freezefactor Tis The Season at Breconfrost. Best Special Beginners.

MPB (4,1)
1. Mogg’s Skidooshooz Time to Shine (AI). Just 6 mths old, this girl is very much a baby but the most co-ordinated in the class. Feminine throughout and of good type, she pleased in outline with neck of good length to balance, straight topline with required slope and tail of correct set and carriage. Good length to ribcage and rib developing well for age. Attractive head with pleasing proportions, nice breadth between her well set ears, correct stop, dark expressive eyes and scissor bite. Moving well enough on the go around, nice and firm when going away but a tad wayward coming towards; time is on her side and hopefully this will improve. Super temperament.
2. John’s Chardicea Love Is Easy. Promising pup of 7 mths but a little overawed by the occasion and somewhat erractic on the move and reluctant to use her ears. She is a nice size, carries good bone and appealed for overall type and balance. Moderately arched neck of good length, pretty good topline, pleasing rib for age, firm loin and tail of correct set and carriage. Head still to fully develop but good width to skull, almond-shaped eyes of good colour, good depth to muzzle and correct dentition. Well made throughout, standing nice and straight in front on good feet and firm hindquarters with nice turn of stifle. When got going she moved freely but needs time and more confidence.
3. Anderton-Tyers’ Articrainbow Lovely Day at Flintsky

PB (5,1)
1. Smith’s Snowshoes Silver Lining. Particularly varied class for type. The winner was this 9 mth girl. Feminine throughout, she presented a beautifully balanced outline with moderately arched neck of good length, straight topline with slight slope from withers to croup, nice depth to chest, muscular loin and tail set on moderately high and of correct carriage. Attractive head with ears set on wide apart, skull narrowing gradually towards correct almond-shaped eyes which are obliquely set, muzzle of good depth and correct scissor bite. Good angles both front and rear, standing straight in front and firm rear with well let down hocks. Moving well all through, covering the ground with excellent self carriage. Very well handled. Best Puppy Bitch, Best Puppy in Breed and delighted to see her go on to win the Puppy Group.
2. Ellis’ Chayo Finesse. This 9 mth pup couldn’t have been more unlike the winner but still with so much to like. Larger girl and longer cast but did not strike me as unbalanced; neck of good length, straight topline with desired slight slope, good depth of chest for age and rib developing nicely, firm loin and tail set on moderately high and carried like a waving plume. Feminine headpiece with nice breadth between her well set ears, correct stop, excellent eye for shape, set and colour, powerful muzzle of good depth and correct dentition. Well made all through with good layback of shoulder, straight well-boned forelegs, correct feet and nice turn of stifle. Moving freely with good ground coverage. Good coat.
3. John’s Chardicea Love Is Easy

JB (4,1)
1. Walker’s Lueldar When The Heavens Speak (AI) Jun Ch. Another mixed class here with three very different bitches present. This 14 mth girl was the winner and she appealed for overall type, was good to go over and of excellent construction. Strong, moderately arched neck, straight topline with slight slope from withers to croup, chest of good depth, ribcage extends well back, muscular loin and tail just right for set and carriage. Quality head, feminine, yet with strength; skull of good breadth, ears set nice and wide apart, dark almond-shaped eyes of correct set, muzzle of correct length to balance and good dentition. Moderate slope to shoulders, standing nice and straight in front on large, compact feet and well made hindquarters with moderate turn of stifle. Eye catching profile action with excellent drive from the rear. Quality coat.
2. Smith’s Snowshoes The White Witch. This 17 mth girl is more refined than the winner but still with lots to like. She is nicely balanced with neck of good length, correct topline with slight slope, ribbed well back, firm loin and excellent tail for set and carriage. Attractive head with ears set on well, obliquely set, almond-shaped eyes, correct stop and scissor bite. She stands well naturally and moves freely with particularly good side gait and self carriage. She needs to develop in forechest but has plenty of time on her side. Good quality coat with dense undercoat. Handled to advantage.
3. Robb’s Icewolf Mother of Dragons

YB (1,0)
1. Smith’s Snowshoes The White Witch

PGB (1,0)
1. Finan’s Marahootay Destiny’s Child (AI). 2 yr old who pleased for overall outline and balance. Strong neck of good length, correct topline with slight slope from withers to croup, deep chest, well sprung ribs, firm loin and moderately high set tail of correct carriage. Nicely proportioned head with good breadth between her well set ears, eyes of good colour but would like to see them more obliquely set, powerful muzzle of good depth and correct scissor bite. She stands well in front on large, compact feet and is well muscled behind. Moving nice and straight when coming at you, pretty well on the go around but could be better when going away.

LB (8,3)
1. John’s Cristakell April Showers at Chardicea. 3 yr old who was very nice to go over and one who excels on the move. She also scored for type and carries nice bone and substance. Pleasing outline with neck of correct length, firm topline with slight slope from withers to croup, good depth and breadth to chest, excellent ribbing, muscular loin and tail set on moderately high and of good carriage. Powerful head yet retaining femininity; skull of good breadth, ears set on wide apart, dark expressive eyes, muzzle of good depth and correct dentition. Straight well-boned forelegs, correct feet and moderately angulated hindquarters with well let down hocks. Impressive side gait and self carriage and moving true on the down and back. Quality coat.
2. Wolfe’s Dreamwolves C’est La Vie. 4 yr old who was close up to the winner here. She is heavier all through than 1 but again feminine and another so good to go over. Balanced outline with strong, moderately arched neck, straight topline with slight slope, deep chest, ribs well sprung, firm loin and tail good for both set and carriage. Good breadth of skull but a tad heavier over the brow, ears set on wide apart, good eye and powerful muzzle. Standing well naturally front and rear and shown in excellent condition. Another who moves soundly but thought winner just had the edge on the go around. Quality coat of good texture with nice dense undercoat. Very well handled.
3. Brown’s Skidooshooz Bohemian Soul of Cupun (AI)

OB (6,3)
1. Ellis’ Ch Chayo Blue Diamond (AI). I thought this 5 yr quite something; feminine all through, she presented the most beautifully balanced outline and was faultless to go over given her superb construction. Moderately arched neck of good length, straight topline with slight slope from withers to croup, chest of good depth, first class ribbing, muscular loin and tail set on moderately high and carried like a waving plume. Nice layback of shoulder, standing straight in front on excellent feet and firm, well-muscled hindquarters with moderate turn of stifle and well let down hocks. Delightful headpiece with good breadth of skull, ears set on wide apart, correct stop, dark, almond-shaped eyes which are obliquely set, good depth to muzzle and correct dentition. Flawless on the move, covering the ground with smooth, seemingly effortless action. Very well handled to take the CC.
2. Ellis’ Chayo One Moment In Time JW. 2 yr old with many of the same attributes as the winner but not quite giving her best on the move in the class. She appealed for overall type, is another so well balanced and pleasing to go over. Strong neck of good length, pretty good topline but winner had the edge in this department, nice depth of chest, ribbed well back, firm muscular loin and tail good for both set and carriage. Quality head with feminine expression; broad skull, narrowing gradually towards her obliquely set, almond-shaped eyes, correct length of muzzle to balance and scissor bite. She stands nice and straight in front on large, compact feet and is moderately angulated in the rear with well-developed thighs. Excellent coat. When called back into challenge for the RCC, she went so much better and could not be denied.
3. Brook’s Snobruk Howling Breeze

VB (1,0)
1. Blaney’s Ch Windberg Paparazzi to Fenrirkin ShCM. Exhuberant 8 yr old, standing alone here but a worthy winner to with quality in abundance. Well balanced with strong neck of good length, correct topline with slight slope from withers to croup, chest of good depth and breadth, firm loin and tail set on moderately high and of correct carriage. Feminine head of good proportions, nice breadth to skull, ears set on wide apart, eye good for colour but a tad rounder than preferred, strong muzzle and correct dentition. Well constructed with good angles front and rear, straight, well-boned forelegs, excellent feet and muscular rear with hocks well let down. Covering the ground on the go around and moving freely fore and aft. Quality coat and handled to advantage.
