Athletic youngster with a lot of enthusiasm. Very nice head, dark eye set obliquely. Good breadth of skull for age Black pigment. Moderate bone and angulation, correct tail set. Moved with purpose in all directions.

Puppy Dog (4,1a)
A super class of promising youngsters
1.Horsman and Horsman Phoenix Snow Legend Zenith of Fame Nordicwinds (IMP RUS)
A lovely 11 month old youngster who looked super in profile. Very nice head, eye shape and correct stop, slight but perceptible. Broad skull. Neat, well furred ears. Soft friendly expression and a super temperament. Strong neck and topline, correct short hocks well let down I loved this boys coat of correct length and texture and soft woolly undercoat. Good bone and substance He had good reach and drive and powered around the ring. Definitely one to watch.
2.Robbs Icewolf Los Angeles Lakers
At just shy of 12 months this youngster had a lovely headpiece Very expressive. Correct almond shaped eye, small triangular ears and correct slight stop. Good bone and substance Well set tail. Very good coat texture. I would prefer more breadth of chest. Plenty of bone and substance. He had lots of power for his size but I would have preferred to see him on a loose lead.

1.Lunn’s Nordicwinds Jazz Singer
17 month old male who impressed for his overall balance, shape and condition. A young dog with everything as it should be for his age. Very pleasing, expressive headpiece. Dark almond shape eye obliquely set. Thick well furred ears, which were well set. Still with a furrow to skull so will only improve and broaden further as he matures. Good arch of neck into well laid shoulder Nice straight legs with slight slope to pasterns Good breadth and depth to chest, slight slope to topline Tail well set. Short, strong, hocks which provided the power for this young male, Super coat texture, condition and he was presented in tip top competition. Well muscled all through.
The more I watched him the more he impressed me. Pleased to award him BD. After consulting with my co Judge Lisa Mort we could not agree on BIS so we called in our Referee Mr Steve Myring, who I was thrilled agreed with my choice for BIS He was also awarded BJISS
2.Innes’ Icycool Hudson Bay (ai)
What a handsome male in profile. Lots to like about this youngster at just over twelve months Super bone and substance. Good head proportions with ears well set and nice thick leather. Slight slope to topline leading to correctly set tail which was well carried on the move. Nice bend of stifle Correct feet. Just needs to tone up a bit more.
3.Brandenberg and Smith’s Chayo It’s Kurt for Taronakits.
14 month old grey and white male. Loved this boy’s well balanced head , such a beautiful soft expression. Correct eye shape, colour and set Broad skull with well set ears of thick well furred leather. Super bone and substance and nice feet. Slight slope to topline and correct tail set, well sprung rib and well muscled loin. Presented and handled beautifully. Moved well in all directions once settled. Super temperament and cheeky puppy character.

Post Graduate Dog (3)
1.Horsman and Horsman-Phoenix’ Nordicwinds Grtest Showman JW
Brother to my JD winner with many of the same qualities. Very well balanced head and good width to skull and muzzle. Soft expression. Correct eye shape and set. Balanced angulation front and rear. Nice arch to neck and slightly sloping topline. Well sprung rib, very well toned throughout Well let down hocks Nice tight feet. Moved with reach drive and power. Looking forward to watching him mature.
2.Whyman and Murrays Tailfly Heart of Gold
2 year old male with a masculine yet very pleasing headpiece. Broad skull and muzzle good eye shape and colour. Presented in firm, well toned condition. Moderate bone, substance and angulation. Nice tight feet. He moved with plenty of power around the ring.
3.Thompsons Northern Star Illa Kuvianartok (IMP POL)
I loved this seal and white male of 4 years. He has lovely breed type and balance Beautiful headpiece with darkest of eyes. Well furred triangular ears with black pigment throughout.
Good breadth and depth of chest. Unfortunately, I could not assess the rear as he was a fidget, but from eye he had very good substance and well let down hocks. Would like to see this male shown a lot more giving him the confidence to show at his best as I was very taken with him.

Limit Dog (2)
I very much liked both of these males albeit of very different types. They could easily swap places on any given day. I’m not sure if it was the heat from the day but they did not provide the reach and drive that I know both of these dogs are capable of. It was very much dog on the day today.
1.Innes’Icycool Atomic (ai)
Such a nice profile on this boy giving the appearance of substance, bone and power in profile. A very balanced picture. Good width to skull and muzzle. Well placed, well furred ears, eyes harmonising with his sable coat colour. Correct topline and tail set. Nice feet. Rythmic gait.
2.Palasinkas Anson Del Biagio ( IMP ITA )
I like this dog a lot He is not a flashy dog but he is a very well balanced and honest dog, what you see is what you get. Very correct head with balanced features, slight stop god eye shape and set. I would prefer a slightly darker eye to complete the picture. Good height to length proportions balanced angles fore and aft. Well set and carried tail. This boy can move but he just didn’t give his best in the class today. However, he was later shown in the Specials classes and stakes classes, which were held indoors due to the rain, and he was like a different dog on the move. He was foot perfect showing reach and drive. More of this please. Best Import. Best Stud Dog.

Open Dog (4,2a)
1.Anderton-Tyers’ Articrainbow Viva Las Vegas at Flintsky
At 8 years this male was another well balanced dog Although shedding coat it was of correct texture. Balanced head, balanced body proportions and enough bone. He was very fluid on the move in all directions.
2.Raby’s Yuayua at Icemoon
6 year old grey and white male of super substance He had a super coat and he was excellently presented. Very nice head and expression. Slightly sloping topline, tight feet. Class winner was just a little more fluid on the move.

Special Veteran (7 to 9 years) (3,1a)
1.Nevinsons CH Chayo Golden Touch ShCM
I have admired this 7 year old male since he was a youngster. He has the most beautiful head, broad and powerful with correct eye shape and set. Broad muzzle. Lovely small, neat triangular ears of thick leather. Well arched muscular, neck. Very strong and powerful in profile with ample bone and substance. Correct coat Presented in excellent well toned condition. Moved true in all directions BVIS.
2. Blaneys Viking Fenrir Kin of Kiyaras Wolf Pack ( IMP DEU ) ShCEx VW
This boy exudes power on the move and could quite easily work all day I’m sure He has a super personality and really made his handler work hard to contain his energy. Plenty of bone and substance, very good coat texture and large feet. Excellent tail which waved constantly. Broad skull nice thick ear leather and well toned all through.

Special Veteran ( 10 Years and Over )(3,2a)
1.Jarvis Brown and Packhams Icetrax Red Diesel
At 4 days short of 12 years of age this red and white male came for a fun day out, he most certainly did not show his age and gave his handler no easy task. He has a broad skull with medium sized ears which were well furred, good eye shape and set with eye colour harmonising with coat. Slight slope to topline. Well set and carried tail Moderate bone and angulation. Good coat texture. It was a joy to judge him for his last show as he was just such a super character. Thank you for bringing him.

Open Bitch Import (3,2a)
1.Quinns Artic Challenge Last Faith (IMP POL)
11 month old female who was a little out of coat. She had a very pretty head with broad skull and muzzle Although losing coat it was of correct texture. She had a good tailset although her tail was a little tightly curled. She was a very happy, confident girl. Moderate bone and angulation. She moved out really well in all directions showing reach and drive.

Working Certified Bitch (5,1a)
A lovely class of Working Certified females of very similar type.
1.Page’s Cedarcreek Frozen in Time
Pretty head on this young lady and a very well toned body which ultimately won her the class. Coat of good texture. Well off for bone and substance. Balanced angulation. She moved true in all directions with super reach, drive and power.
2.Nordicwinds All Attitude
Very close call between first and second. I really like this females side profile She has good proportions, bone and angulation and on the move had super reach and drive but preferred the head of 1.
3.Burgess’ Cedarcreek Forever Young at Mountainglen.
Another pretty girl of similar type Dark eye, correct ear shape with thick leather. Moderate angulation front and rear with correct coat texture. Moved well in all directions.

Special Junior Rescue Stakes (1)
1.Perfitt’s Samjoe From Russia with Love
What a cracking youngster At 7 days shy of a year I just loved this girls overall balance and proportions. Her height to length was just right in profile and she did not disappoint under assessment. Very pretty head with good eye shape and colour. Correct ear size, shape and set. Coarse coat with dense woolly undercoat. Well let down hocks and nice tight feet.
Exciting future ahead for this girl, my co-judge Lisa Mort was in agreement and we awarded her Best Overall in Stakes Classes.

2.Perfitts Samjoe The Good Witch
Not quite the maturity yet of my class winner but she has a lot to like Very pretty head good length of neck Slight slope to topline. Well off for bone and substance, lovely waving plume. Moved well in all directions and I am sure her time will come.

2.Druce’s CH Karomandel on Strange Tides
At almost 11 years this female has a lot enthusiasm and drive. Balanced head proportions. Well off for bone and well let down hocks. Very nice coat length texture and undercoat. Has lots of power in rear, moved well in all directions.
3.Benton-Brownes Icycool Mystique at Nukilik
Larger 10 year old girl of good bone and substance, correct coat. Correct tail set and balanced head proportions Just carrying a little too much weight which I felt hindered her movement today.

Lisa Mort: Bitch classes & Dog Stakes

My thanks to the Alaskan Malamute Club of the UK for inviting me to judge bitches at their May Club Show. It was a lovely day where even the rain almost held off throughout judging! I had some wonderful dogs to judge and had to make some very difficult decisions. My Co Judge – Tate Forsey – and I were able to agree on all the top awards with exception of the Best of Breed, where we called in our referee Steve Myring for assistance. My sincere gratitiude to all the exhibitors for giving me the honour of judging their dogs and last but not least to my stewards, Les & Julia, who kept the ring running efficiently throughout.

Minor Puppy Bitch (2 Entries, 0 Abs)
1st Miss L AITCHISON & Mr S HURST Kaskae Fire Opal (AI)
Beautiful seal & white youngster, just shy of 9 months with a good eye shape & colour, tight fitting lips & correct scissor bite. Very balanced in profile with good front & rear angulation. I felt she moved very well for one so young.
2nd Mr A & Mrs L BURGESS Tolketna Top Of The World to Mountainglen.
Just turned 6 month, grey & white and although very much a baby showing good proportions and a lovely tail set. Rather large ears just now, which I am sure she will grow into. Correct amount of bone and sympathetically handled, she was certainly enjoying the day and did herself & her owner proud on what I was later told was her ring debut.

Puppy Bitch: (4 Entries, 2 Abs)
1st Mrs S & Miss L PERFITT Samjoe From Russia With Love.
Almost 12 month old grey & white bitch and rather a captivating youngster. Very well schooled already, as one would expect from this kennel, her movement was wonderful, showing great reach & drive, effortlessly covering the ground. As the day progressed she just got better and better. Best Puppy Bitch & in agreement with my co-judge Best Puppy In Show.
2nd P QUINN Arctic Challenge Last Faith (Imp POL)
Very pretty and feminine bitch of 11 months, with beautiful dark, oblique, almond shaped eyes which gave her a wonderful expression. Well furred ears with thick leather. A little short in leg & tended to over extend in her front movement. Would have preferred a better tailset & carriage however very well handled to get the best out of her.

1st Mr J HORSMAN & Mrs J HORSMAN-PHOENIX Nordicwinds Miss Marvel
Very well presented grey & white bitch of 16 months. Good eye colour, nice tight feet and correct waving plume. Good length of leg, slightly longer in loin than some of the others competing. Moved very well.

1st Mr I PULLIN & Miss K MOUNSTEPHENS Snowshoes Made With Love to Whitewalker
Eye catching grey & white bitch, just coming up to 4 years. Presented in fit, hard condition. Skull still needs to fully mature but good has pigment and tight lips. Nice arch of neck and with good angulation front & rear, she moved very well but needs a bit more time to reach her prime.
2nd Mr R & Mrs N RABY Moon’s Nordicstars Burning Flame (Imp SWE)
Unfortunately, this 2 year old grey & white lady was feeling the heat today and so lacked a little enthusiasm, however showed good movement when the mood took her. A strong yet feminine bitch with a super dense, correct double coat and good tail set. Very well muscled.
3rd Mrs R & Mr T ANDERTON-TYERS Arcticrainbow Lovely Day at Flintsky
Another grey and white girl approaching 4 years, with a pretty expression and wonderful pigment. A little narrow in chest in comparison to her class mates, and moving a touch close going away, she still showed good proportions & was well muscled. Would of preferred a shorter rear pastern.

1st Miss L AITCHISON & Mr S HURST Kaskae Oasis
A strong, substantial seal & white bitch of 3 years of age. Presented in good, fit condition, she showed balanced angulation in front and rear and with pleasing overall proportions. Her movement was her forte, strong and effortless in motion I felt she looked like she could work all day. Her foot perfect motion cinched the class for her & subsequently gave her Best Bitch & Reserve Best in Show
2nd Mrs T, Mr A & Miss L DOLAN Siskara Dead Ringer For Love
Another super seal & white bitch of 3 years. Strong yet feminine with very pretty expression and correct amount of stop. Dark eye and small thick ears, correctly set. Shorter in body than the winner, with a correct slightly sloping topline, she had oodles of bone & substance and a nice depth of chest with good spring of rib. Finished off in a Super harsh coat, and waving plume, couldn’t deny her Reserve Best Bitch.
3rd Miss RJ BROWN Cupun’s Masterpiece
Very smart and eye catching 2 year old Seal & white bitch. Schooled to perfection and at one with her handler she looked wonderful in profile. Good pigment and an oblique, almond eye. Well set ears of the correct size to her skull. Shorter in coat but displayed a good harsh texture. Moved very well from all angles holding her topline at all times, she was edged on maturity today but a quality bitch and one to watch for in the future, for sure.

1st Mrs T, Mr A & Miss L DOLAN Siskara Sweet Child Of Mine
This grey & white bitch of three years demanded attention in the class. Beautiful dark, obliquely set eyes, correct stop and strong skull with small well furred ears. Correct length of neck and good bone with nice tight feet. Very balanced, and possessing a beautiful harsh coat texture. Would have preferred her to be carrying a little less weight but her other qualities meant she still earned her pole position in this class.
2nd Ms G CAMERON Sutarka Sala Delle Asse
Appealing expression on this 3 year old, grey & white bitch. Nice oblique eye, good stop and tight fitting lips. Good size and substance with appropriate bone & correct feet. Gently sloping topline leading into a wonderful waving plume which finished off the picture on the stand. Unfortunately didn’t seem to fully settle on the move which cost her the class but a quality bitch.
3rd Mr B & Mrs S INNES Icycool Oriana
Very attractive, 5 year old sable bitch who really caught the eye. Outstanding, harsh double coat and a strong head with not too much stop, wonderfully dark oblique eyes and well furred ears with thick leather. I would have preferred more length of leg and another carrying a touch too much weight meaning she tended to roll on the move.

Special Veteran Bitch 7-9 Years (4 Entries, 0 Abs)
1st Mr P & Mrs M PAGE Cedarcreek Frozen In Time
Strong, correctly sized and attractive 7 year greay & white bitch. Presented in tip top condition and very well muscled, with good coat. Super dark, almond eye with small neat ears. Made a great shape when stood, very well balanced throughout, with correct topline held well on the move where she really excelled. Handled to perfection.
2nd Mrs MR & Mr TR ANDERTON-TYERS Northspirit Born To Shine at Flintsky
8 year old, seal & white, and another presented in hard, fit condition. Clearly enjoying her day out with a fabulous tail set. I felt her a little long in loin but she still stood out for her overall balance in angulation front and rear.
3rd Mr A & Mrs L BURGESS Cedarcreek Forever Young at Mountainglen
A larger 7 year grey & white bitch, littermate to my class winner and again in great condition leaving me in no doubt still enjoys an active lifestyle. Slightly larger ears than I would prefer but still showing a lovely eye shape and set. Not the forechest of her classmates but moved out well.

Special Veteran Bitch 10+ Years (6 Entries, 1 Abs)
1st Miss AJ BLANEY CH / IRE CH Windberg Paparazzi to Fenrirkin ShCM VW
At 12 years old this, seal & white bitch showing no signs of slowing down. Smaller in size, but a strong, well muscled bitch not lacking in substance. Still holding her topline well and in good harsh coat, her effortless movement from all angles won her the class, alongside Best Veteran Bitch in the challenge.
2nd Mrs J WHYMAN & Mr J MURRAY Tailfly Rainbow Ribbons
This 12 year young grey & white lady was having a great day out and obviously had a great rapport with her handler. Correct proportions, with good lay of shoulder and bend of stifle she moved very well, not showing her age at all.
3rd Misses K & C DRUCE CH Koromandel On Strange Tides (ai)
A very honest, 10 year old grey & white bitch. Great bone & an appealing expression, show in superb condition and proudly showing off her correct waving plume.

1st: Miss ME PALASINSKA Anson Del Biagio (Imp ITA)
This 3 year grey & white male oozed quality. Good strong head and typical expression. Small, well furred ears and strong neck leading to a correct sloping topline with good spring of rib. A little straight in stifle but certainly demanded my attention and one of my favourite boys on the day.

9 year old, grey and white male with ears larger than my preference but still a quality male shown in fit condition. Good length of leg and correct sloping topline, I would have preferred more width of chest but he still moved inside this smaller indoor ring with plenty of reach & drive.

1st Mrs D JARVIS, Mr M BROWN & Mrs L PACKHAM Icetrax Red Diesel
What a character this red & white, 12 year old is, entered the ring with his cheeky sense of humour on show. I judged him many years ago and he still ticked many boxes for me, looking good on the stand with a strong head, correct neck and nice overall proportions. A real credit to his owners at what I was later told was his retirement show.
