Judge's Critiques
I would like to thank Alaskan Malamute Club for inviting me to judge the Special Health Stakes and Handling Class at Malvern. What a wonderful run show and I was well looked after by the committee especially Julie Whyman and Janet Isherwood. Thank You to my stewards Kate, Tony & Joan. I had to contend with a World Cup Final Day and extremely hot weather for the dogs and humans and appreciated some cloud cover when we had some . Thank You to all Exhibitors for entering under me and I felt good atmosphere around the ring and cheering with places. The dogs seemed to cope well with the heat, were all presented well with superb temperaments.
Special Health Stakes Junior Dog or Bitch (1 Entry)
1st Mrs K L Jelfs – Lapema Gia Visto, Light grey bitch just over 8 months of age. Good body for age well boned and developing well and in nice proportions with good angulation and forechest. Lovely big feet, good length of neck; good top line; good Tail set, good eye shape & good bite, still development needed in the skull, good coat, not so steady on the move, nice substantial bitch. Pleased to award her Reserve Special Health Stakes

1st Mr R & Mrs N Raby, Candrakanta Moon Child at Icemoon – Dark Grey bitch 6 years old with a big Coat, which was soft. Very substantial bitch with very good bone and well-muscled, Good spring of rib with good depth to the chest. Slight slope to top line into a good tail set, good rear angulation. Muzzle slightly narrow to the head, good ear set and eye shape; good bite moved well around the ring showing a real steady gate – please to award Best Overall Special Health Stakes.
2nd Mrs C Clarke; Electra Illa Kuvianartok at Whiteout (Imp Pol) – Light Grey bitch of 19 Months, Nice shape to head in good proportions and good length of neck, still needs some development overall but I really liked her and would love to see how she matures. In all good proportions, good feet, good angulation good tail set and moved with a nice steady gate around the ring.
3rd Miss Dobson & Wolfe Sutarka la Dolle Vita – Grey Bitch of 19 Months, Good proportions and good angulation and overall shape, good forechest; good rib cage; good feet; tail set good but holding the tail a little tight, good eye shape and eye set, moved well, just some slight rolling on the top line on the move
Handling Classes
(8 – 11 Years) (1 Entry)
Freya Morris age 11 and Best Overall Handler. Freya did seem a little bit nervous on entering the ring, but I was surprised by her age as only being 11 and I take this into consideration and the confidence will come with time. Freya was well presented and gave me lots of eye contact and was always making sure where I was in the ring ensuring that I saw the correct position of her dog. She was able to handle the dog very well and kept his attention while I was going over him. She moved him at nice steady pace, which was just the right speed. He did get a bit fidgety at times and keen on his bait, but Freya handled him well in those circumstances and got him back on track. Well Done Freya
