I would like to thank the AMCUK committee for the judging invitation and the hardworking Show Manager/Stewards for their dedication making the show possible. Sadly due to the scheduling of the breed at the Champ show prior and the snowy/icy weather, this affected the overall exhibitor attendance. That being said it did not detract from the quality of the exhibits that did persevere and stay. Thank you. I was assigned dogs, my co-Judge was Aniko Alexander (Okinstar) assigned bitches and our Referee was Mr Richard Kinsey. It was a delight to share this experience with Aniko & Richard.

Post Grad Dog: 3 entries
1. Walkers – Lueldar Here Comes the Son JUN CH – Lovely young seal & white Male, beautiful head and expression, great pigmentation, correct dentition, dark almond shaped eye. Correct angulation front and rear, cracking feet. Excelled on the move, with effortless reach and drive. Was my pleasure to award him Reserve Best Dog.
2. Forsey’s – Owyhee N Blackrock Feel the Noize for Muzoku (imp USA) – Another young lovely seal & white, who push hard for the top spot. Similar attributes to winner, just lost out on movement. Could easily swap places on another day.
3. Dziergas & Ashworth’s – James Bond illa Kuvianarotok at Nunataq (imp POL) – a lot to like too about this Seal & White adolescent exhibit but gave his handler a really hard time today and made it difficult to assess his movement.
I have seen him on other occasions deliver the goods in the ring; I hope he settles & fulfils his show ring potential.

Limit Dog: 3 entries
1. Phoenix’s – Snow Legend Zenith of Fame Nordicwinds JW (imp RUS) – Striking sable male that paints an impressive outline. Correct pigmentation for colouring; correct ear set & dentition. Soft expression. Correct angulation front & rear, slightly longer cast, but a joy to watch on the move.
2. Croft’s – Dreamwolves oh my oh my – Grey & White male 6 year old male, pleasing head with soft expression, nice outline, slightly cobbier than 1, uneasy on the move.
3. James Bond illa Kuvianarotok at Nanataq (imp POL) as above.

Open Dog: 8 entries (2 absent)
The class of the day, full of quality exhibits; champions and the next generation of big winners, each could easily swap places on another day.
1. Pages – CH Snow Legend Believe in You Cedarcreek JW (imp RUS) 5 year old, Grey & white, which oozes breed type. Correct size & balance. Beautiful head, with small correct ears, correct dentition & dark almond eye. Nothing about this handsome guy is overdone. Presented in pristine condition & handled to his full potential, even if at times he was challenging. This exhibit truly excelled on the move, glided around the ring with purpose, no wasted motion displaying full reach & drive, it was my pleasure to award him Best Dog & Best in Show (via referee).
2. Jelfs – CH Lapema Malizioso, another quality male grey & white male whom I really liked, different type to 1, but screamed breed type, lovely soft expression but still masculine. Overall balance, front & rear. Really pushed class winner.
3. Keeling’s – IR CH Kishdigra Smooth Operator, delightful Red & white male, many of the same attributes of 1&2 but didn’t bring his A game today, against strong competition.

Special Veteran Dog (7-9 YRS): 5 entries (3 absent)
Great class of cracking veteran boys.
1. Nevinson’s – CH Chayo Golden Touch ShCm 9 year old grey & white male who can still give the youngsters a run for their money. Delightful headpiece and correct dentition. Balanced throughout, holding his top line on the move.
2. Sheehan’s – CH Cedarcreek Frozen River – 8 year-old grey & white male, a lot to admire here too, just preferred the movement on 1. Easy to see why both exhibits are worthy champions.

Stakes Classes
Special Working Certified Bitch: 3 entries (2 absent)
1. Brouard’s – JSY CH Sutarka Coco Chanel at Orsamals Pdh – 7 year old grey & white bitch, a pretty girl with delightful sweet expression. Makes a lovely outline. Correct coming and going, holding her top line.

Special Junior Rescue Stakes Bitch: 3 entries (2 absent)
1. Forsey’s – Muzoku Charmed One, a pretty young lady with a bright future ahead of her, I’m sure. Presented beautifully & in harmony with handler. Strutted her stuff on the move. Reserve Best Special Rescue Stakes winner.

Special Open Rescue Stakes Bitch: 4 entries (1 absent)
1. Keeling’s – Kishdigra The Criminals Kiss, what a cracking red & white bitch she is, I have had my eye on this girl for a while and she did not disappoint. Feminine headpiece with wonderful liver pigmentation, correct eye colour & bite. Correct layback of shoulder. Providing a wonderful top line, into a delightful waving plume. Balanced throughout, she couldn’t put a foot wrong. A joy to watch, glide around the ring. Best Special Rescue Stakes winner.
2. Forsey’s – CH Muzoku You’re my Obsession another cracking girl, who also exuded many if not all the same attributes of 1. But sadly was in a class with a Red who was on top form today. Easily swapped places on a different day.
3. Dziergas & Ashworth’s – Arctictreks Black Sheep 7 year old lovely seal & white lady, who was clearly enjoying her day. Different in style to 1&2 but didn’t detract from her quality.

Thank you to The Alaskan Malamute Club of the UK for allocating this appointment to myself and
creating a well organised event and to the exhibitors for their entry and time in waiting for it to get kick started. I am very grateful for the opportunity and eagerly awaited the day. I was allocated the Bitch entrants and Dogs in the Rescue Stakes classes. I judged alongside Mrs Kat Copley-Holland (Katabatic) who was allocated the Dog entrants and the Bitches in the Rescue Stakes. We were happy to agree on top award placements except for BIS where we happily called in our Referee Mr Richard Kinsey. It was a pleasure to co judge with you both and I was happy with our final line up. I was hoping to see in my entry, nice large feet with arched toes, good chest width and front
angulation on an overall structurally balanced dog and was not disappointed.

Minor Puppy Bitch (2 entries) 0 Abs
1 Edwards & Molloy’s Wintablizard Happy Hour. This 7 month girl ticked off my checklist immediately, she had a beautiful expression, dark pigment, big feet, well arched toes, standing on strong pasterns, straight forelegs and thick broad chest, which will only get better with maturity. Slightly high in the rear due to an uneven growth spurt, as commonly seen at this age but this did not detract from her overall balance and excellent rear angulation and turn of stifle. I was happy to see this girl take BPIS.
2 Sheehan Powderhound’s Sparks Will Fly at Amaqqut (imp USA) NAF TAF. Another 7-month old girl similar in size to one but of a different type. Very pretty feminine head, dark eye, narrow skull with larger ear. I suspect her head will further develop with time. Nice rounded back skull and ear set. Good length of neck and overall balance, moved clean up and down. Slightly softer coat and longer in body then 1, again things that will change with maturity. Pleased to have her take RBPIS

Puppy Bitch (2 entries) 0 Abs)
1 Jelfs Chayo High Jinks with Lapema. An 11-month-old powerfully built. On the stand showed real strength. Appealing broad head with thick muzzle, good pigment and eye shape, nice length of neck leading into strong forelegs and a wonderful width of chest. Would have liked to see a little more length in upper arm and turn in stifle. Good mover, clean coming and going. Lots of substance for a girl of this age.
2 Darlow Juneau’s Bright Future for Iceclimb (imp DNK). A pretty 9-month-old, smaller in size to 1. Dark pigment and eyes, narrower skull acceptable for age, lovely small ears. Beautiful profile and side movement. Moved effortlessly round the ring. Chest narrower than I would have liked and pasterns soft, should improve with conditioning and maturity.

Junior Bitch ( 2 entries) 1 Abs
1 Forsey Muzoku Charmed One. A Super girl who although stood alone did not disappoint. Beautiful alert expression, nice almond dark eye, thick muzzle and strong head, good shaped ears; broad at base and rounded at the top. Excellent angles front and back. Came to a beautiful natural stack for her owner. Loads of coat with nice harsh texture and dense undercoat. Moved with great reach and drive, will have a bright future. Happy to see her be Best Junior in Show and Reserve Best Special Rescue Stakes.

Limit Bitch (3 entries) 2 Abs
1 Brouard Orsamals Cest Moi Fifi (Imp GKC) This girl was in excellent condition, coat thick and course. Beautiful side profile and arched tail. Feminine pretty expression, finer muzzle with good rounded back skull and ear set. Moderately sloping shoulders, shorter in loin and finer in bone but
good chest width and strong pasterns. Moved nicely from all angles and was a pleasure to watch.

Open Bitch (6 entries) 3 Abs
1 Keeling Kishdigra the Criminals Kiss. This gorgeous red girl really stood out. She had excellent structure and type. Beautifully balanced with a lovely profile. Head broad but feminine, small well shaped and placed ears, slightly lighter eye as seen and acceptable in red dogs. Nice chest width,
straight forelegs, strong pasterns on good sized feet. Nice length of neck and arch. Good length of loin well-muscled with slight sloping topline, finished with correct tail set, carried well on the move. Coat and dog in great condition, she really worked hard for 1 st place. Pleased to award her RBB and Best Special Rescue Stakes.
2 Forsey Ch Muzoku You’re My Obsession. Another stunning girl. Great angulation and in particular shoulder layback. Beautiful bright expression, dark eyes and pigmentation. Nice width of chest, with strong forearms and pasterns. Clean moving away and back, excellent foot placement. A lot to like about this girl, but 1 st place had the edge over her today.
3 Brouard JSY CH Sutarka Coco Chanel at Orsamals PDH. I’d seen this girl do well earlier in the day where she didn’t put a foot wrong, sadly she was a bit tired by the time I got to judge her. A beautiful example of a malamute, more compact in size, nicely balanced. Strong pasterns and beautiful short hocks.

Special Veteran Bitch (7-9yrs) (3 entries) 0 Abs
1 Edwards and Molloy BEL Ch Wintablizard’s Gin Lover (AI). This was all I hoped I would find in a malamute and more. A 7-year-old with tons of substance, heavily boned, good proportions. In full maturity, she had a good muzzle to skull ratio, thick muzzle, gradual stop, almond shaped eye with
good pigmentation, rounded back skull, correct shaped ears positioned nicely. Nice length of neck, with brilliant front angulation and shoulder layback, good chest width, thick straight forelegs, and excellent feet. Great turn of stifle to complement front angulation, well-muscled with lovely short well let down hocks. Beautiful course coat. Maturing beautifully. Movement was perfect coming and going and a pleasure to watch side profile. An easy win and BB/BVB/RBIS/BOSIS on the day.
2 Walker IR Ch Lueldar Burn It to the Ground With Silverice Jun Ch. Alot to love about this girl, also 7 years old and lots of substance and thick bone. A nicely balanced girl front and back, with a good amount of upper arm and turn of stifle. Stunning head which nearly won her the class. Would have
preferred a slightly better width of chest which was the deciding factor. Clean on the move and good harsh thick coat, slightly longer in length then number 1.
3 Jarvis & Troisi Nordicwinds All Attitude. A different type to 1 & 2 but still lots to like. Good muzzle with gradual stop, lovely dark pigmentation and dark eye, ears slightly narrow and large, but in proportion to skull and muzzle length. Good length of leg and moved beautifully round the ring.

Special Veteran Bitch (10yrs and over) (4 entries) 3 Abs
1 Darlow Sledog Indian Ocean to Iceclimb (AI). 10.5-year-old in great condition and excellent muscle. Large girl with strong broad skull, strong neck with nice length and arch to it. Good length of leg, nice straight forelegs, strong pasterns and good feet; size and shape. Slightly long in body, good mover, clean coming and going with correct foot placement. Looking great for her age.

Special Open Import Dog (2 entries) 1 Abs
1 Forsey Owyhee N Blackrock Feel the Noise for Muzoku (Imp USA) TAF. Super young male of good size. Nice head although would prefer broader skull and muzzle. Good dark pigmentation. Nice length of neck with strong topline slightly sloping, good tail set, carried well on the move. Nice
amount of bone with correct angulation front and rear. Good length of leg standing on strong pasterns and good-sized feet. Dream to watch moving, foot placement excellent coming and going and from the side. Never put a foot wrong, moved effortlessly round the ring. Awarded Best Special

Special Working Certified Dog (4 entries) 3 Abs
1 Darlow Iceclimb Ascent. This was a powerful looking male. Lots of great qualities. Nice broad skulland muzzle. Lovely broad chest, straight forelegs, good length of leg, with wonderful feet and strong pasterns. Long in body but overall balanced and excellent mover. Didn’t put a foot wrong. Owner informed me later he has his WLDA and is ranked 13th in the world. Went on to gain Best Special Working Certified on the day.

Special Open Rescue Stakes (5 entries) 3 Abs
1 Keeling IR CH Kishdigra Smooth Operator CW22 AN CH22 CENT W. Lovely red male. Powerful yet beautiful head. Good arch of neck and gentle sloping topline. Well off for bone and good-sized feet. Tail set nicely and carried well. In great coat and condition.
2 Croft Dreamwolves Oh my Oh my. This dog had a beautiful head and soft expression. Lovely thick muzzle and broad skull nicely rounded back skull with good width between ears. Nice dark coloured eyes and almond shape. Beautiful profile on this male and moved effortlessly. Sadly, he wasn’t happy to be examined.
