Thank you to the Committee and Officers for inviting me to judge the breed at this show. It has been quite a while since I judged the breed at this level, Bournemouth 2009. The weather on the day was a little unkind to us and judging took place indoors. The ring was just about large enough to allow us to get some free movement, although we did have to negotiate some tent poles to achieve this. Overall I was pleased with the quality of exhibits on show. I think my final line-ups of each sex illustrated the type of Malamute I was looking for and I was delighted to see my BOB take Group 2 later in the day.

MPD (3, 1)
1 Cameron’s Sutarka Fire Storm. 7 mths old, good in size for age and already carrying a fair amount of bone. Has a good topline and good feet. Head and skull of correct proportions, nice muzzle, good ears and set, good dark almond shaped eyes. Moderately angulated both front and rear, moved with fair reach and drive, tail carriage should improve as he gains confidence. Well built throughout, in good harsh jacket. BP.
2 Raby’s Yuayua At Icemoon (Imp Swe). Seven and a half mths, good bone and feet, well up for size at this age, carrying a little excess weight, which affected movement a litt.e, head ok, still developing, good ratios, broad in skull, ear carriage could improve, good harsh coat, nicely angiulated and put together, tail set on well and used effectively, movement ok with fair reach and drive.

1 Edward & Molloy’s Wintablizzard’s Investment. Nice size and balanced throughout, adequately boned with good feet, well built and has good muscle, nice angulation both front and rear, good head, eye placement and ear set, nice depth of chest with pleasing topline and outline, moved well with reach and drive, slightly narrower in front than I prefer, in good correct coat, well presented. Best Junior.
2 Ellis’ Ice Gangsta’s Ball Of Fire For Chayo (Imp Deu). An eyecatching red and white dog of nice type and size, good head and skull of correct proportions, good eyes both set and shape, good ear set and type, correct stop, good bone and feet, correct moderate angulation and moved with reach and drive maintaining his topline both standing and moving, correct coat type with good tail carriage, well presented.

1 Page & Jarvis’ Cedarcreek Frozen Asset. Well muscled up dog of correct proportions. Good broad skull with nice muzzle, good dark eyes and nice ear set, good topline, maintained throughout. A little out of coat, nice angulation front and rear, moved with reach and drive covering the ground effortlessly. Nicely presented.
2 Jelfs’ Lapema Garoto Rude JW. Another dog of correct proportions with good topline both standing and moving. Nice broad skull with good muzzle, good eyes and ears with nice expression, nicely angulated, allowing sound movement with good reach and drive. Unfortunately left his coat at home, but well presented.
3 Ellis’ Ice Gangsta’s Ball Of Fire For Chayo.

1 Pullin & Mountstephens’ Inupiats Qulit Henrik At Whitewalker (Imp Nor). Nice type, of good size and athletic build, could certainly do the job, good bone and feet, very well muscled up, good head and eyes, ears a little high set but ok, in good correct type of coat, good angulations both front and rear enabling good reach and drive on the move, moved well with plenty of power in reserve, holding correct topline throughout, well presented in hard condition, looks like he could go all day.
2 Page & Sheenan’s Cedarcreek Frozen River. Taller and longer than first, nice in outline and topline, good broad skull with nice head qualities, good eyes and ears, nice angulation front and rear, good bone and feet, moved soundly coming and going with both reach and drive, in fair coat, presented well.
3 Johns’ Cristakell April Solstice.

OD (5, 3)
1 Ellis’ Ch Chayo My Perogative. Fills the eye and shouts Malamute. In correct harsh coat and of the correct proportions, good head of correct type and proportion with broad skull and nice muzzle, good eye shape and position, giving nice expression, good ear set and type, well furred, well boned throughout with good feet, well angulated front and rear, deep chest and correct sloping topline both standing and on the move, lovely in outline with a lovely side action whilst moving, moved soundly with reach and drive, effortlessly covering the ground, good tail carriage and set on well, powerfully built and well muscled up and not looking his age at all. Well presented. CC.
2 Brown’s O’Kinastar Fire Me Up ShCM. Good sized dog of good shape and outline with a good topline, held both standing and moving, good head, eyes and ears, both set and type with good furring, muzzle just slightly shorter and deeper than I prefer, good angulations both front and rear, nice depth of chest, showed and moved soundly with reach and drive, well presented and handled.

1 Copley & Holland’s Am Ch/GCh Adair ‘N’ Hug Casual Class. Another attractive dog of good size and correct proportions. Good head of correct type and proportions, broad skull, good eyes and ears for both type and set with nice expression, good bone and feet, in good harsh coat, nice depth of chest, good topline kept both standing and whilst moving, well muscled throughout, well angulated front and rear, moved soundly and well with reach and drive, covering the ground well, good tail set and carriage, presented well, in excellent condition for his age. RCC. Best Veteran.
2 Jarvis, Brown & Packham’s Icetrax Red Diesel. Red and white, out of coat and a little finely built throughout, head ok, good eyes, fair depth of chest, tail set and carriage good, moderately angulated front and rear, topline ok and held at all times, moved soundly and well, would have liked more reach, well presented and handled.

MPB (3, 2)
1 Cameron’s Sutarka Worth The Wait. Difficult to assess at first due to a little shyness, however, a nice bitch of fair proportions and size, nice head with broad skull and good muzzle, nice eyes and ears correct set and type, bone ok for age, nice feet and moved ok, settled more as the class progressed, needs to be socialised and ring trained quickly to fulfil her potential, worth the effort.

JB (2, 1)
1 Edwards & Molloy’s Wintablizzards Gin Lover. 16 mths, nicely built bitch of good proportions and outline, good head with broad skull and good muzzle, good eyes and ears with good set, nice feminine expression, front and rear angulation good, good topline and outline maintained both standing and moving, moved soundly and well with reach and drive, just a little close behind, out of coat but well presented and handled.

1 Dicks’ Chayo Northern Breeze. Nicely proportioned bitch of good size, nice broad skull, correct stop and good muzzle, nice well furred ears, well set on, good eye and feminine expression, carrying correct harsh coat with well plumed well placed tail used well, good bone and feet, nice topline and outline, moved well with nice reach and drive, nice action from the side. Well presented.
2 Page’s Cedarcreek Frozen In Time. Another nicely proportioned bitch with good bone and build throughout, broad skull with good dark eye and nice ear set, feminine expression, nicely angulated and put together well, topline correct both moving and standing, nice tail carriage, moved soundly with both reach and drive, sound front and rear, pushed the winner hard.
3 Portias’ Cedarcreek Frost Bite.

1 Jelfs’ Lapema Nino Vudu JW. An attractive bitch, nicely built and has correct proportions, in good correct coat with good bone and good feet, nice in outline with a good sloping topline which is held on the move and standing, correctly angulated front and rear, nice depth of chest, good shoulders, good head qualities, broad skull with well set ears of good type, nice eye, has an interested and feminine expression, moved well with good animation, sound with nice reach and drive, good tail carriage, very nice action when viewed from the side, well presented, pushed hard in the challenge.
2 Johns’ Cristakell April Showers At Chardicea. Nice, compact, densely coated bitch, not the tallest bitch but correct in proportions, nice depth of chest with good shoulders, head ok, broad skull, well set small, well furred ears, nice eye, moderately boned with good feet, moved ok, sound both coming and going, nice reach and drive, not quite the animation of first.
3 Butler’s Kaytoo Antartic Anko.

1 Ellis’ Chayo Blue Diamond (ai). Lovely young bitch who fills the eye with quality, ideal proportions with good bone and feet, well muscled up and certainly looks the part, head quality good throughout, good broad skull, correct muzzle and stop, nice dark almond shaped eye, well set on ears of correct type, good depth of chest with good shoulders, well angulated both front and rear, excellent topline, well off for muscle and moved soundly like a steam train with good reach and drive, in good coat of correct texture, lovely in profile both moving and standing, well presented. CC and BOB. Was delighted to see her take Group 2 in a strong group later. Apparently this sees her gain her crown, well done.
2 Rodger & Wheeler’s Northspirit A Star Is Born. 3 years old and coming into her prime, good head, eyes and ears, correct stop, nice feminine expression, well muscled with good bone and feet, nice topline both standing and moving, good depth of chest, good shoulders, nicely angulated front and rear, good tail carriage, moved well with reach and drive, sound both coming and going, in good correct coat, well presented.

1 Sugden’s Ch Chayo Elise. Lovely bitch all through. 9 yrs old and not really showing her age at all. Moving well with reach and drive, very sound. Excellent tail carriage and set, correct topline held at all times, in very good coat of correct texture, good head qualities, nice broad skull, good muzzle, nice eye, good ears both set and type, correct stop, well angulated throughout, nice depth of chest, well boned with good feet, muscletone good, in excellent condition, a lovely example of the breed, lovely presentation, well handled. 2 Blaney’s Windberg Paparazzi To Fenrirkin. 7 year old bitch of pleasing proportions, in hard condition throughout, nice head qualities, good eye and ears, good topline maintained both standing and on the move, moderately boned, good feet, good angulation to both front and rear, good depth of chest, moved soundly with reach and drive, nice tail set and carriage, out of coat, showed well.
